From all the Nintendo Wii games I own I have to say I think this one is the best. It is suitable for pretty much all ages and is great fun to play. You can play in either single player mode or as a multiplayer game. The game comes with a steering wheel but to race properly against friends you could do with buying another steering wheel separately to get the full effect.
The game follows the same format as that on the Nintendo DS. You choose a character eg Mario, Luigi, Princess, Bowser, Toad, Yoshi and many more then you choose the vehicle you wish them to drive. Finally you choose which 'cup' you wish to compete for. Each cup has four races to complete in order to win that cup. There are 8 cups overall though to begin with 4 of these are locked and you have to win the other 4 to unlock these. Cups include the star cup, mushroom cup, leaf cup and rainbow cup.
You race around the tracks against the other characters picking up boxes to help you along the way. The boxes contain items which either blow up your opponents, knock them out the way or accelerate you further along the track. Most races have 3 laps.
You can also play a battle mode where you are part of either the red or blue team and have 3 balloons surrounding your character. The object of this game is to try and find the other characters and burst their balloons whilst not letting them burst yours. The team with the most balloons left at the end wins.
This is an excellent game and even my 5 year old can play it. A fun family game that will have you hooked for hours on end. The game itself isn't cheap - it costs around £24.99 from most sites now including the wheel but provides hurs of fun for your children. Well worth a try.
