Starring the whole of the Mushroom Kingdom pantheon, there's much more to this sports sim than it first appears. Not only can you play as Bowser but you can also pick-up Mario Kart style itemsMario uses his power shot to bring on a rather unorthodox piece of tennis equipmentIt may not look like it, but at heart this is a surprisingly deep sports simBoss battles aren't a normal part of most tennis games, but they are in this one!At the heart of the game though is a traditional tennis sim with controls that have just that little bit more depth thanWii Sports, for a slightly more realistic feel. To start with though all you do is use the remote to hit the ball and, if you want, the Nunchuk's analogue stick to move around the court. That's just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to other options though, with everything from the crazy power shots to special gimmick courts filled with obstacles and situations from previous Mario games. This is a review on a remake of a classic Super Mario game called Mario Power Tennis. The original version of this game was made for the Nintendo 64, called Mario Tennis, but the newer / better version for the Game Cube is far better, and much more enhanced.
Features ******* This game is different to the original version of Mario Tennis with all these new features. You get to do new moves, like power moves, and defensive moves. Every character has its own unique power move and defensive move. A power move consists of smacking a ball toward the enemy with a powerful weapon or a powerful attack of some sort. A defensive move is normally what you would use to get the ball when it is out of your reach, very useful at most times.
In a tennis game, you can do singles or doubles, so one on one, or two on two. Also there are four different difficulty settings, which vary from being easy - difficult. I would start off with the easy one to get use to the game.
Other then playing the main tennis game, there are mini games, which is also a new feature to this game. You can do the painting game, which allows you to paint Mario and Luigi, by smacking paint balls at a wall. Also loads of other things for you too do if you get bored of regular tennis, which you won't anyway.
The graphics have been enhanced a lot; also the opening movie to this game is also very freaky, yet fun to watch.
Game ***** The game itself is good there are quite a few game modes you can play. There is Exhibition where you will be able to play tennis with whatever you want. Then there is Tournament, which is the main game play mode, where you do the Mario cups, and win prizes at the end of it. Then there is a mini game, where you can play like I said Mario Painting game, and loads of other mini things just to spice up the games enjoyment.
The game is easy to get use to, the controls are pretty simple, and the game itself is just simple, yet the game can be quite hard. Which makes the game good for all players, for people whom are good at tennis games, and people that are not?
There are loads of characters in this game, more then expected in my point of view. You have Mario and Luigi, Peach and Daisy, Bowser and Baby Bowser, Boo and Shy Guy, and loads loads more, just for your enjoyment, and they all have their own unique power move and defensive move.
This game is up to 4 players, so you can have fun playing this game with all of your buddies, which makes this game even better.
Other ***** I found this game very enjoyable, it entertained me from the word start, and I have been playing it a lot ever since I bought it. This game is one of those Mario games that everyone should get, yet it is only on the Game cube, but this game is one reason to get one. The playability of this game is also very good, and very easy to get use to.
This game is very addictive, I found myself playing this game for ages and on end, a very good Mario game, and is really worth a purchase.
This game is pretty original, even though there are loads of Tennis games out, but nothing quite like this Tennis game.
The graphics for this game is awesome, it is very smooth, all clear, and the detail in the environment and the characters is extremely good. Really good graphics, which makes the game, look outstanding.
The music to this game is like all Mario games, good and sets the mood, and different each time. Very nice listening too and sometimes freaky. One for the ages. The sound effects to this game is great, you have all the grunting of the characters hitting the balls, and all that stuff… makes the game seam very good, and realistic.
This game can be difficult, and then can't be, depending on what difficulty you set the game at, so it is up to you how difficult you want the game to be.
This game is great value for money, even though you might think it is a bit pricey (£20 - £40), it is still worth a purchase anyway. I shall give this game 5 star * * * * *, as I believe this is one of the best Mario games I have played in ages. I am sure that you will like this also. This game is suitable for all ages, and will bring enjoyment to their life.
THIS GAME IS
Got awesome graphics Got loads of characters Great for all ages
THIS GAME IS NOT
The same as the original Mario Tennis Rubbish For Adults Only
Advantages: Great fun, Multiplayer is amazing Disadvantages: Can be frustrating, more inside. Too easy?
...retailer with a copy of Mario Tennis for Gamecube, unaware that this would constitute my entire efforts over the summer months.
In a way, it's a shame that this game has Mario branding, as I believe that some people's opinions of Mario fall into the general idea of "Nintendo is for kids", and as a result not only miss out on some fantastic games but get stuck playing the same recycled driving games and sports games with a few new players and game ... ...From the opening sequence, Mario Power Tennis retains the same pseudo-Caribbean sentiments present in Mario Kart: Double Dash and Super Mario Sunshine, such as the music and colourful backdrops seen in Isle Delfino. The menus are nice and easy to navigate, and it is clear from the outset that there is a lot to this game.
There is of course the option to jump straight into an exhibition game of tennis, which I personally took to get to grips with ...

...heard of, the now, legendary Mario Tennis. With what was perhaps the greatest tennis game ever made in their hands, there was no doubt that Nintendo would release a sequel, and now it's here. This game has a lot to live up to and thankfully it does.
With any tennis game, the controls are an integral part and Mario Power Tennis happily keeps the same simple controls and smooth movement from the original. So what's changed this time round? Well each ... ...is the best feature of Mario Power Tennis. There are also a host of characters to choose from, the usual Nintendo bunch such as Mario, Donkey Kong, Peach and Wario along with some new inclusions like Wiggler and Petey Piranha. Mario Power Tennis brings some new ideas to the court, some good and some bad. If you're looking for something reminiscent to the N64 version then this may not be the game for you but if you're tired of 'normal' tennis and ...

...but i like puns!
Mario Power Tennis, is the sequel to the nearly flawless Mario Tennis on the N64, this means that Nintendo had to give it some new aspects and gameplay to match the N64 game let alone surpass it. They came up with the Power Shot; by pressing either the X or Y buttons you could perform a defensive or offensive shot. This was a big mistake. The defensive shot is so effective that it ruins the game, as soon as your about to score a ... ...every bit as good as Mario Tennis on the N64; the tournaments are enjoyable and tough gently getting harder and harder, the mini games are a great laugh with mates or on your own, for example: Painting! The idea is that you hit the coloured balls in the right area to fill the painting on the wall bit by bit. A great original idea that can provide hours of fun, therefore giving it huge replay value. But the best part of this game is by far the multiplayer. ...

Mario Power Tennis, just recently purchased this game for around £20 odd, and thought it was very good. I am pretty new to the newer mario games as I'm use to the old retro ones like Mario Allstars and Super Mario World. As I was saying, recently purchased this, and I have heard so many good things about this game, so I stuck it in my Gamecube console straight away, and gave it a whirl. I watched the opening movie which I found was funny, like Nintendo ... ...what they were, first tried mario painting, which is mainly about you having to smack coloured paintballs that get launched at you in the right place to paint the picture. There was only one picture to start off with which was Mario, then once done it unlocks Luigi.
After I played that, I decided I would not continue with the mini games (there were around another 2 - 3 different types of mini games) and went straight to playing the tournament. The ...

Advantages: Better Courts! Better Characters! Better EVERYTHING! Disadvantages: NONE WHAT SO EVER!
Anyone who has played Mario tennis forN64 or GB will remember that it was the best tennis game ever! Now they've gone one step futher making it that little bit more Mario! This time there are more characters (e.g. Bowser Jr.) and more than just two secret characters (Hint. If you've played Sunshine remember the big boss which got hot-tempered when stomped on?).
The courts are much much more improved this time. Like the Delfino Square equiped with ... ...:@. A battle with Mecha-Bowser, A rally with Glooper Blooper, a sticky situation in Delfino and many more.
I personally think this is the best sports game I have on gamecube and anyone whose played the other mario tennis games should not be without this!
