I was visiting our newly opened shopping centre last weekend and decided to pop into Marks & Spencers. This is a god send for our area as the nearest M&S is in Edinburgh, therefor not too convenient for shopping.
I had seen the mouthwatering T.V ads for their delicious looking food and was particularly interested in their "Two people Eat In For £10" offer. Usually on a Saturday night we get Take-Away of some description, Chinese being the current favourite, but Its getting a tad boring now as well as quite expensive. Knowing my youngest was staying over at a friends the M&S option seemed a good alternative.
On approaching the store, I noticed a board outside advertising the Deal. The options are displayed in a huge chiller cabinet and on approaching I noticed their were hoards of customers clambering around, perusing the various options on offer, not a sight you immediately associate with the prim, sedate image of Marks. Not wishing to be put off I stealthily managed to obtain a position at the cabinet in order to view the various selections..
**How Does The Deal Work?"
The £10 includes: A main Meal for 2 An accompaniment/Side dish Sweet A bottle of wine or Carton of Fruit Juice.
Their are around 8 options for each course, something to suit all pallettes, also their is the vegetarian option.
Below are listed some examples of what's on offer:
Mains: Large Lasagna Chicken with Mozzarella and Pesto Melt Moussaka
Drinks: A selection of Red, White or Rose Wine Variety Of Fruit Juices
**My Dining Experience**
With my son off to his friends to stay, I could prepare the meal. Preperation however was not needed for the particular meal I had chosen, as it was just a case of turning on the oven and waiting for the cooking process, a bonus for me as I loathe the preperation of a meal.
To start we had the Chicken Breast with Mozzarella and Pesta melt, which had sundried tomatoes served on wilted spinach. The chicken was melt in the mouth, with the subtle flavours blending to make it a wonderful culinary experience, this was accompanied by Roast Potatoes, which I have to say were the finest I have ever tasted....The crispy outer coating giving way to a fluffy buttery potato inside, certainly very more-ish and if I were to have any complaints it would be that there werent enough of them.
I didn't immediately eat the sweet as I felt quite full, eventually removing the Clotted Cream Rice pudding from the fridge and operning, I put my spoon through the layer on top, to reveal a subtle creamy aroma, on entering my mouth the creaminess of the clotted cream wasn't stodgy as you may expect from the appearance of the sweet, the flavour so divine and home-made it took me straight back to the rice Pudding my granny used to make, to say it was as good as hers would be a massive compliment to M&S.
We had opted for a bottle of red Chilean wine which I admit we never tried, I'm not a huge wine fan and my hubby is of alchohol for health reasons, but it will do fine as a raffle prize at Christmas.
**My Verdict**
I was very impressed with this "Meal Deal" the quality as youd expect was superb, a fabulous alternative to the usual Saturday Night Take-Away. I would certainly recommend this to everyone and will myself be sampling the various delights still to be discovered.
All Values are on the individual packets.
Price : Only £10
A definitive 10/10 Thanks For Reading and Enjoy......
Advantages: Eat in for £10 for 2 people Disadvantages: May not have full selection
Marks and Spencer Dine in for two at £10 offer has been running for sometime now, but I hadn't seen it in the new shop that opened nearly a year ago in Livingston, until quite recently - probably because I went at the beginning of the week and it is only on Thursday to Sunday inclusive. I think it has become so popular at Marks that other supermarkets have followed and copied the idea but I have never been tempted in Tesco, as the selection was quite ... ...been disappointed with one product. Marks and Spencer are renowned for good quality food although they do tend to be quite expensive, but in a world where people want to cook quickly they certainly provide easy to cook and tasty prepared food. Saving on the washing up too as they tend to be in foil containers. There is a choice usually of 1 Mains, 1 Sides or Accompaniments, 1 Dessert and a bottle of wine or non-alcoholic drink. I have heard that ...

Advantages: excellent quality Disadvantages: Not very big portions if you eat a lot!
...before then I will explain. Marks and Spencers are currently offering a choice of a side, main meal, dessert and a bottle of wine for just £10. There is a wide selection of choice for all of the categories and something to suit everything. When we went into the shop all of the things that we could choose from were on three ends of the aisles which made it easy to walk back and forward deciding what would go with which dish. There was more choice ... ...chargrilled chicken for the main. The sides consisted of things like Mediterranean vegetables, a big salad or chips and the desserts (which we found the hardest to choose from) were things like trifles, profiteroles and chocolate mousses. After hours of deciding we went for the chicken and salad and a huge plate of profiteroles for pudding. Andrew chose a bottle of red because I am still breastfeeding and don't particularly like to drink. The reason ...
