Advantages Airtight, store inside each other, nice design, easy to clean, sturdy.

Disadvantages Expensive at full price.

The product

This is a set of 3 different sized cake tins. Each tin is decorated with a Marmite jar and the Marmite logo around the side. The three tins are sized 23cm, 19.5cm and 17cm in diameter and they are designed to be stored inside each other, much like a Russian doll with each tin sitting inside the slightly larger one which sits inside the largest one. Each of the tins follows the same design but is a different colour with the 17cm being a blue colour, the 19.5cm being a turquoise colour and the 23cm being a lilac colour.

The packaging

These tins were stored inside each other and mine just had a barcode sticker and a reduced barcode on the front. This obviously meant that there was no unnecessary packaging which is always a bonus when carrying my purchases home from the town!
Where to purchase these tins & for how much?

These are available from numerous stockists, including Amazon.co.uk and I believe that the average selling price is between £19 and £25, however, I paid just £5.00 for mine from BHS because the largest tin, the lilac one, had a dent in the side and two scratches along the middle of the lid. This did take away from the lovely design a little, however, for £5.00 I was happy to have two perfect tins and one slightly defective one. These were marked as £10.00 in the sale and reduced to £5.00 because of the damage and this price would obviously be exclusive to my local store because of the damage to this particular set.

Overall opinion

These tins are wonderful. They look stylish and the design of them is wonderful. The colours are very nice, bright without being over the top. I love how each of these tins fits inside each other as this allows me to use less space when these are empty and stored back in my kitchen cupboard.

Each of these tins is lightweight and weighs just a couple of hundred grams each. This means that even when you fill them with wonderful baked goods they are not too heavy.

These tins are wonderfully easy to clean. Because these are made from a thin lightweight material these are incredibly simple to clean. I just soak mine in a washing up bowl, along with any other washing up, and then wipe over with a sponge with Fairy liquid on it. Very minimal scrubbing is required and if the outside of one of the tins is dirty I do not have to rub hard to remove the dirt or grime. Even with regular use and regular soaking in a bowl of hot water none of the logo or colouring has been removed or become faded, even with many months of use.

These tins are air tight when in use and the lids fit very snugly. The tins fit well inside each other with a few millimetres left around the edges meaning while a finger does not fit down the space you can just tip the tins over and the smaller size will fall out comfortably.

Overall these tins are delightful. If you are a fan of Marmite, or just the iconic branding of Marmite, then you will find these adorable. The styling of the tins is nice, they are a reasonable size for cakes, the price I paid was fantastic and these are simple to clean and work well at keeping cakes and other baked goods fresh.

Summary: A fantastic set of Marmite cake tins.
