Advantages: Immediate confirmation of hotel availability Disadvantages: Misleading price confirmation and misinformation about what is included in the price

We recently made a reservation for les Jardins de la Koutoubia through Maroc Emotions only to realise they use a scam to defraud customers. They confirm a price, ask you to provide card details for identification and a deposit to the hotel, they then take a payment from your account, and then confirm the "remainder" to be paid to the hotel. Following the reservation and payment of the holding deposit , you receive an email confirming that the full amount due to the hotel is the same as the total originally quoted, resulting in a 20% uplift on the confirmed price. The hotel then advises that they have received no deposit, that there is a recurring problem with Maroc Emotions payments, and they still need you to pay the full amount including the deposit already paid. To add insult to injury, the hotel then advised that the items confirmed by Maroc Emotions as included in the booking (e.g. airport transfer) are in fact excluded. However they will kindly offer to call one of their taxi driver friends (for a fee of course!), who will charge you at least double the rate for the journey.
If you want to avoid this total fraud, make your reservations through another service or direct with the hotel.
The one good thing about this experience is that if you realise it before the hotel drops the bombshell/ before arriving in Marrakech, then you will be well prepared to put up your guard against scam services from fake Berber tour guides, art dealers with "unique" pieces of art from the souks, the women who stand in front of the washbasins so you have to pay them 10 times the average daily wage before you can wash your hands after using the toilet (even if you eat in the restaurant and tip them!) and uppity cab drivers who want to charge you 15 times the fare even while they offer their friends lifts throughout your journey and push the car into a fuel station to refill it so they can continue your journey.

Quick review of Maroc-emotions.com
Good things first: A good selection of riads, and we stayed in a very nice place with friendly staff in a great location. Booking was convenient, and quick.
However... a big irritation was that prices were quoted in pounds, until after our booking deposit was claimed; our confirmation came back in Dirhams and worked out to be significantly more than we had been quoted. This site uses very poor exchange rates to provide what appears to be a fixed price - our weekend away cost 20% more than the quoted price.
Next time I'll book direct with a riad. ...

Advantages: Fast transaction processing Disadvantages: 20% commission disguised as a deposit paid to the hotel
We booked a hotel through Maroc Emotions and only found out that they charge a 20% "commission" of the total booking when we tried to check out of the hotel. This "commission" was not disclosed during the booking process, but was presented as a "deposit" to the hotel. While you do expect a certain amount of trickery in Morocco, you don't expect to be tricked before you get there. When we called Maroc Emotions to enquire why the hotel believes our ... ...she could not understand my English very well. When we enquired why a company with a presence in Britain targeting British and English speaking customers don't have any staff available who understand English, I was advised that they do not have a presence in Britain, just a British postal address and London telephone number which redirects to Morocco. I then spoke in French and asked to speak to a manager, but was advised that the manager was not ...

Advantages: Perfect service Disadvantages: No control over hotel management
I just got back from Agadir which was my second trip with Maroc Emotions. Reading your reviews I am really surprised! I have dealt with this company twice in 4 months and was very happy with the service they provided me. I even suggested it to my friends and colleagues alike and they received the same great service. Of course, concerning the service provided by the hotel, that is another question!
The pictures on Maroc Emotions website reflect the ... ...reflect the quality of hotel employees! The price is lower if you book through them than directly with the hotel, I have tried it! The price in local money is the same but due to the change rate that applies the hotel, the price in your own devise can be either lower or higher but Maroc Emotions warn you about that somewhere on the confirmation mail and website I think. I definitely recommend this company trusting my own experience! ...
