Galaxy Cookie Crumble (119g bar)
Recently I have found myself drawn to the Galaxy range of chocolate bars. The one that caught my eye this week was the Cookie Crumble variety. I always like reading what chocolate bars say about themselves, and then find out for myself if I think it is accurate. Then again, it may seem a bit sad sitting alone in quiet solitude eating a bar of chocolate.
On the side of the wrapper it says, “For maximum pleasure enjoy in complete peace and quiet.” I don’t think you could argue with that statement – no eager little fingers trying to pinch pieces from you! Then again, it may seem a bit sad sitting alone in quiet solitude eating a bar of chocolate. On the back it says, “Smoothness enhanced with delicious pieces of chocolate cookie.” So, is it smooth and are the cookie pieces delicious?
Packaging
I found the design of this packaging simple and effective. The foil wrapped chocolate has a paper outer sleeve which just slips off. On the front it simply says “Galaxy Cookie Crumble.” This is written across a various shades of brown background which looks like a swirl of chocolate. In the top right hand corner is a picture of two chocolate cookies. In my opinion it makes it look a good quality product. Information about the chocolate is on the back of the wrapper. The foil itself is brown on the outside and white on the inside. This chocolate bar measures 16cm x 8.5cm x 1cm. The picture provided by Ciao is accurate, apart from the fact that it no longer has New printed on it. I have included a picture of a few squares of the chocolate itself though – top and bottom view.
Nutritional Information etc.
For those who are interested in calories etc. the information below is per 100g. Calories ….. 547 kcal (that’s about 18kcal per piece!) Protein ………..6.2g Fat …………..33.3g (20.3g of that is saturated) Sugar ………..52.7g Sodium ………0.1mg
Main IngredientsSugar, cocoa mass, cocoa butter, skimmed milk powder, milk fat, whey powder, lactose wheat flour, butter. The milk chocolate contains cookie pieces (8%) and traces of peanut, other nuts and sesame. For a full list of the ingredients – see back of chocolate wrapper.
As this contains traces of peanuts and other nuts it is not suitable if you have a nut allergy.
I am pretty certain that this is suitable for vegetarians.
There is no information on the wrapper to confirm the two statements above.
My Experience/Opinion
On opening the foil I found the bar to be made up of thirty curvy pieces of chocolate. The top of the bar is smooth, shiny and rippled with the letter G indented on each piece. The bottom of the bar is rough due to several tiny chunky pieces of cookie sticking out of it. I could smell a faint aroma of milk chocolate after giving it a good sniff. The bar is easy to break into individual pieces. Each piece is 2.5cm x 1.3cm x 0.8cm (approx); it is difficult to be exact as the pieces are shaped.
The Taste?
This is, of course, the important bit. As usual, I decided to suck an individual piece to begin with. The milk chocolate is smooth, creamy and quite sweet. The cookie pieces feel rough on the tongue, and it is difficult to resist the temptation to crunch them up as you go along. After sucking away the chocolate, you are left with a few pieces of crunchy cookie in your mouth. The second piece I decided to suck and chomp the pieces of cookie as I went along. This gave an interesting contrast in flavours. The third piece I decided to chew. I found the chocolate to be quite soft and chewy, but didn’t really notice the flavour of the crunchy pieces of cookie so much. I recommend sucking and chomping the pieces of cookie as you go along to get the best flavour experience. The tiny pieces of cookie seemed to me to be less sweet than the chocolate. I thought that they had a slightly darker chocolate flavour to them. They are a dark chocolate colour whereas the chocolate is obviously a milk chocolate colour. Whichever way you decide to eat your bar, you are left with the sweet, creamy taste of Galaxy milk chocolate at the back of your throat. So, how about the description of themselves – “Smooth?” Yes, the chocolate does have a smooth texture. Then again, most chocolate is. “Enhanced with delicious pieces of chocolate cookie?” The tiny pieces of cookie make the bar different and it does make a change from the usual additions added to chocolate bars. However, if you like cookies, you’d probably be better off buying a chocolate cookie with chocolate chips in it. Though the idea of reversing this is interesting. Though the chocolate is quite sweet, it is not sickly. I wouldn't recommend eating a whole bar in one go though! Would I recommend it?
Yes, I would recommend this, if you have a sweet tooth. It is a bit different and good value for money. The chocolate itself is delicious and creamy and the cookie pieces are tasty and crunchy.
Price – I bought mine at Tesco, priced £1.00 as it was on offer, usual price £1.26. I haven’t actually seen them in any other major supermarket.

The composition of each Chocolate piece is a similar to that of kit kat senses in that there is two layers to the Chocolate where the difference in the taste can not be noticed. The taste difference comes from the cookie pieces, which are crumbly. The Chocolate taste's sweet, not very sickly or gooey. Hershey Chocolate is similar though I find by comparison hershey Chocolate ...

Advantages: Chocolate....WITH COOKIES!??!?!?!!!!!!! Disadvantages: you can't enjoy the chocolate melting as much.
I have spent most of today with my head on the desk trying my best to ignore people. I have been Grumpy, Sneezy and Dopey all day and don’t have any plans to work through any other dwarfs any time soon, even if it is only the happier, shinier ones that are left. At the same time, my flat mate (who also works with me) has been challenged by our crazy Irish friend to give up sugar for a week just to see how horrible it is (actually the original challenge ... ...row and THEN give up sugar for a week…) SO! Because of this my flatmate was clearing out her drawers (a phrase I never intend to use again) which are full of sweets (oh god the images). I lifted my head long enough to snatch a galaxy cookie crumble from her, then lowered my head rapidly towards the cheap, faux pine desk. '''Say what?''' I first heard of these things when the girl across from me mentioned them. I looked at her in amazement as she ...

Advantages: tastes nice Disadvantages: not enough biscuit and the bits that are there are too small
After a hard day dieting I found myself heading to Tesco's in search of chocolate :-D I made a beeline to the section of the shelf full of large bars of galaxy when a new addition to the range caught my eye, Galaxy Cookie Crumble. I have always been a huge fan of the Cadbury with shortbread and I much prefer Galaxy chocolate so I thought I'd give it a try
The wrapper looks just like the normal Galaxy bars except it has two chocolate cookies on the ... ...written in it on the top left. It also has cookie crumble written in small writing below the large 'Galaxy'.
For those poor souls who don't know, Galaxy chocolate is a very creamy chocolate and can be a little sickly when you try and eat too much in one go. Not that that stops me from trying... As the name suggests the cookie crumble has small pieces of chocolate cookie in it. The pieces are quite small, about the size of rice crispies. The cookies ...

Advantages: Ehh, It's Galaxy chocolate Disadvantages: It's too scratchy
Well, I stumbled across this chocolate bar by complete accident. I was at my local Tesco Express looking for a quick and cheap chocolate fix. I saw a bright yellow card saying 2 for 80p, Wow, that's quite impressive as most chocolate bars now cost over 50p each so, I read all the details, any of the regular sized bars of galaxy including ripple bars. Oh, now I was spoiled for choice. I went for a Galaxy Caramel and a regular Galaxy. I noticed that ... ...I'd picked up dark chocolate instead of milk, but no, It said Cookie Crumble in small writing below the large print of Galaxy. I was intrigued and decided to give it a go, regardless of the fact that I'd never heard of it. ***The packaging *** It is a plastic foil wrapper pinch sealed at each end to keep in freshness. The design of the wrapper is unmistakeably for a bar of Galaxy chocolate, with their trademark cream and brown swirling colours and ...
