"Life (minus) Tracker = Hungry Mornings!"

What would life be like with out tracker bars?? Well my life for a start, would definitely consist of many hungry mornings!

Being a student, who has 8.30am lectures three days every week and who lives about an hour and a half away from university, I very rarely get time to wake up in early in the mornings to make breakfast.. If I did, I would probably have to be up at 6 instead of 6.30 and you know what, nothing is more pleasurable and enjoyable than half an hours sleep when you really do not want to be up!

So yeah, there is just no way I have time for breakfast... so what do I do?? How can I miss the most important meal of the day? I know what happens when I don't have breakfast, by about 10.30am my stomach turns in to a very amateur orchestra!! I swear, if you're sitting next to me, you will not tell it to "encore"! it also means that I am know longer able to think or carry out any logical processing… mind you, I'm sure you wouldn't be able to if you sat in a room with an amateur orchestra rehearsing!

Anyway, the point I am trying to make across to you is the importance that these bars play in my life! :) It's true though, I must admit, these have to be my favourite cereal bars, and they are cheap, exceptionally tasty and widely available! Voila!

The predominate colours on chocolate chip variety of the tracker bars is dark brown (resembling the chocolate) and golden yellow (resembling the nuts and oats!) - Clever huh? Justin case you didn't notice that, there are little drawing on either end of the wrapping of chocolate chips, chewy oats, crisped rice and nuts. And if you still missed all these subtle clues about what the bar actually contains, Masterfoods give you are clear description written on the side of the bar… "Chewy Oats, Nuts & Crisped Rice Bar with Chocolate Chips". They really have tried hard!

The central space on the wrapping is occupied by the infamous word in the world of cereal bars… 'TRACKER - chocolate chip'.

**** Taste and Texture ****

Crunch.. MMmmmmmm, crunch, squidge chomp, mmmmmm crunch, munch, chew, MMMMMMM!

So to translate, they taste absolutely scrumptious! I don't know about you, but I like things that just go crunch, you know, like the sound a nut makes under your teeth when you decide to bite… lovely! So the tracker bar completely fulfils that! It's made up of nuts and chocolate chips, coated in a layer of tasty caramel that sit pleasantly on a bed of chewy oats and crispy rice. When biting a piece off you will experience a number of widespread textures. First there's the nuts that go 'crunch crunch', then there's the chocolate chips that 'break off' smoothly, then you've got the oats and the rice that are coated in caramel that go 'chewy chewy!'

The one problem I must say is that the caramel does not actually act as a very good adhesive for the nuts, rice, chocolate chips or oats so you will find all these flying off whilst you biting away and end up landing on your clothes. After finishing a bar I usually spend the next few moments just brushing my self clean! … So be aware, you might want to wear a bib ;o)

Now for the technical stuff…

**** Ingredients ****

Cereals (oat flakes, puffed rice
Glucose Syrup
Hydrogenated Vegetable fat
Chocolate chips
Sweetened condensed skimmed milk
Milk fat

**** Nutritional Information ****

The boring part…

Per 26g bar: -

Energy - 528kJ/126kcal
Protein - 1.8g
Carbohydrate - 16.2g
Fat - 6.0g

And most importantly…. 137 calories!! =) (that's with the chocolate!)

**** Price ****

A single bar from my experience, (which I must say is pretty extensive as I do not only purchase these for breakfast but also as a quick snack) can range from 30p to 50p. Bargain I tell you!

You can also buy them in multi-packs (8 Tracker Bars) from supermarkets which will cost around £1.45. I will warn you however, buying a multi-pack means that the length of your tracker bar will be significantly reduced so it will not give you more than a few mouthfuls so you'll probably end up having 2!

The Tracker bar also comes in the following varieties:
- Roasted Nut, Forest Fruit, Yoghurt, and Lemon!

**** Conclusion ****

So, if you're looking for a quick, crunchy, stomach satisfying, thought enabling snack... you've found it! =)

Thanks for reading! =)
