I bought the G50RCD when I started doing some live perfomances, which mean that my little 10watt practice amp was no longer up to the job. I chose the 50watt as it is loud enough for small venues, and is still of a reasonable size and weight (about 20kg).

The amp has a volume control for both channels, also bass and treble controls. But only the distorted channel has a midrange switch, and the gain control.

I got the amp on special offer for £160, but this was about 2-3 years ago, so that price is probably about standard by now.
Straight out of the box, the sound is not great, but after a few days wearing in the speaker, (I advise you to turn the volume at least half way for some of this period.) it becomes a lot warmer. The clean channel is a bit dissapointing, and too quiet, but then who buys a marshall amp for the clean tone? The distorted channel is everything you'd expect for the money, and more. As well as the guitar input, there is also a CD input, for jamming along to your favourite tracks, a direct out for connecting to a PA, a headphone socket and an input for the footswitch, which is not standard, but will only set you back about £12.
Overall the amp is a bargain, you couldn't expect more for the money, but don't expect miracles, its under £200.
Advantages: Price, Features Disadvantages: Short plug lead
...to louden my delightful tunes. Marshall was the first company i looked at, because of its second-to-none reputation as the world's best guitar amp manufacturers. Although the most prominent amps were the most expensive and largest, with a little digging I came across this one. When I saw the features, I couldn't believe the price. 50 watt Park Series amp, 2 channel, footswitch for changing channel, 1 year warranty, with gain, reverb, treble, middle, ... ...when I visited my local Marshall dealer to ask for their price, they asked for £270! This was when I realised the variation of the prices for these amps. I clinched a deal at Electromusic in Doncaster for £170 plus free delievery in 2 days. I have never spent money better. I have had no problems at all with it, the sound is great for the price, the equipment is reliabel, it is reassuringly heavy and big, and 50 watts goes a long way in a local band!! ...

Advantages: Good marshal sound Disadvantages: not so good cranked
Marshall have and always will be the heart of the tone of rock and roll. Their amps have shaped the music world for over 40 years and im sure will for many to come. When you play this amp at lowish volumes classic marshall tones come out cleanly and powerfully with that growl and crunch they are renowned for! However wqhen this amp gets cracked it loses some of ts tonal purity and the sounds tend to merge into one wall of sound, great for death metal, ...
