First off, I'll list the features:

Twin footswitchable channels - Clean and Overdrive

Independent tone controls for Bass and Treble on each channel

Contour Control for dramatic mid sweep and "scooping"

Emulated Line Out jack and Headphone jack

CD input which allows you to play along to your favorite discs

Built-in Digital Effects - Reverb, Chorus, Flange, and Delay

10" custom-voiced speaker

FDD (Frequency Dependent Damping)

Right, here we go. I bought this amp in September 2004 for around £120. The best advice I can give with regards to purchasing it is to shop online, it's a factory standard amp so it doesn't matter where you get it from.

In my opinion, this amp is only really useful for those people who having been playing for a year or less. It's perfectly fine for a beginner, you'll find that you can get some great tones out of it, whether on the clean channel or with distortion. It's almost a plug-and-play guitar, you don't need to play with the knobs much to get a decent sound. However, after a while (as in after you have had it for a year or two) I think you will start to get bored with the amp. There is only a limited range of sounds that it can give you. Don't think about playing any heavy metal without getting a distortion pedal as well.

The clean channel on the amp is adequate, if a little bassey. The effects are pretty good. Reverb works well, as does delay, although it also adds a little reverb rather than being pure delay. Flange and Chorus add some pretty funky effects, although I find I never really use them so don't base your decision on the fact that the amp has those.

Volume wise I have never got past about 2 (at home) so 30 watts is more than enough for all non-band situations. The FDD switch doesn't really do much, although I leave mine on since it does seem to make the amp sound slightly better, although it's hard to describe how: it just does. I have never used the CD-Input or Line-Out.

Overall, I would recommend that a beginner buys this. It's relatively cheap and will easily last you a good year, possibly more, before you start wanting more. Comes with a three year warranty as well. If you have been playing any longer I'd say spend a little more money and get a better amp, perhaps a valve amp.
