bought my own house and moved out on my own not only did my dad buy me a microwave, as my culinary skills were limited to “Ping” food but also bought me the best book I have ever read and owned. The Complete MaryBerry Cookery Book a hard back book of culinary delights that even I can master. I especially liked the fact that not only does each section give you very handy tips prepare certain items, for example I have never cooked a full chicken never mind carve it but Mary not only taught me how to clean, prepare and carve but also to spatchcock (mind you when I’ll ever spatchcock a chicken I have no idea).
The dishes are also categorised within each section as to how long they actually take to prepare and cook from 30 minutes to a couple of hours which I find really useful when unexpected visitors turn up and expect ...

I bought this recipe book about five years ago from a cheap book outlet for about £7 and it is still one of my most frequently used cookbooks.
I am a keen cook and like to try a couple of new recipes each month. This book is easy to use and because the recipes are short and to the point, I can fit them into gaps in a busy schedule.
Most of the recipes have no more than 15 lines of instructions, some are shorter, very few turn over the page.
Many of the recipes have a fabulous full-page colour photograph to show you how it should look - and to be fair, most of them do look like they should because this is such a clear, cookbook with good instructions.
My only criticism is that this book now seems to be a bit outmoded with all the chefs and cookbooks currently around. Victoria Sandwich, Battenburg Cake, Brandy Snaps, Butterfly ...
Advantages: Easy to use and great for all ages. Disadvantages: Dont lend it out you might not get it back!
