This book is part of the quite popular Dead Famous series which I quite recently got in a box set and each book averaged out at about £2 instead of the usual £4.99 which was quite a bargain and encouraged me to buy these books! The books is 208 pages long but could be read quite quickly die to the fact it is similar to the Horrible History books and has various cartoons, letters, pictures in it which keep the book from being boring but also take up quite a large amount of room.
This particular book is all about Mary Queen of Scots and her exciting life. Within a week of being born her father died so Mary became Queen of Scots and a monarch – not bad! She is soon sent over to France to marry her first husband who was a bit useless and was also Queen of France. But within a year her husband had died and at 15 Marry who was a pretty Queen was a widow! The book also tells us about the people who fell in love with her, who she married, about her relationship with Queen Elizabeth, was executed and was basically a prisoner in many different castles. That is why the book is so interesting as her life is so exciting and eventful.

I think this is a really good book to read if you want to learn about Mary`s life but not in a too serious manner and not being bored at the same time. The book is mainly aimed at school children to educate them about Mary Queen of Scots but I think adults would quite like the book too. The book is also quite funny in parts and is more entertaining than just reading a huge, boring history textbook. The cartoons and pictures are well illustrated and make the book look nicer. This book also shows us about religion at the time and the war between Catholics and Protestants and problems in Scotland. I found the book very interesting and enjoyed reading it. I am looking forward to reading and reviewing many other of the Dead Famous books and think they are a good little series.
Overall, I think this is quite a good book especially for children wanting to learn about Mary Queen of Scots life and therefore would recommend Mary Queen of Scots and her Hopeless Husbands!
