Car: Maserati 3200GT For: Refined Italian chic and handling Against: got to be rich to own one Value: For what you get you cannot really complain. Everything is well finished and there is a high level of equipment in the car. Costs: Surprisingly fuel economy is not that bad, however insurance is astronomical and the parts and servicing are much the same. Reliability: Seems pretty good, perhaps not quite so delicate as some of its other Italian stable mates. Driving: Excellent. I had the pleasure of pushing one of these very hard around the Mallory park race circuit and it was well up to the job. The steering is precise with plenty of feedback from the road. This serves to make a big car feel very light and nimble. The chassis and suspension are sublime and capable of dealing with anything that you throw at it making cornering a sheer pleasure. The levels of grip are unbelievable and if the car does step out of line then it is very easy to control. Acceleration is phenomenal, shoving you hard back into the bucket seat and the brakes are fantastic. They bite well and give confidence inspiring feedback not to mention stopping the car on a sixpence if necessary. The engine noise is great too but is only heard at the higher end of the rev range when it produces a lovely throaty bellow. Performance: Make no mistake, this thing is FAST! There is a 3.2 litre twin turbo V8 under the bonnet which kicks out nearly 400 bhp and is controlled by an electronic fly-by-wire throttle so there is no delay at all. 60mph comes up in no time as does 100mph. BALLISTIC! Comfort and Practicality: This car is one of the few in its class that is a true 4 seater. It will happily accommodate 4 adults with plenty of room in the front and the back. The boot is huge and will easily swallow those golf clubs etc. All the seats are comfortable with loads of gadgets to make them infinitely adjustable to whatever posture you choose. The ride is refined without being sloppy and there is almost no engine noise. In short, very comfy and very practical! Image: Sleek Italian style, the epitome of good taste. More exclusive than a Ferrari Safety: Pretty good as there are more air bags than you can imagine, ABS brakes and traction control if you choose to turn it on Security: Good too, with central locking, alarm, immobiliser etc. Overall Summary: An excellent car; practical, comfortable, safe, secure, refined and an absolute hoot to drive. This has to be one of the best all-rounders that money can buy!
Found the accelerator pedal toooo sensitive. The first day I drove one I had to reverse park into a meter bay, up a steep hill, in the centre of Glasgow in the middle of the Friday evening rush hour! Loved driving it long distances in rural Scotland. A perk of working for the local Ferrari/maserati dealer!

Another one on my wish list. Now if only I could win the lottery...
