Mass Effect by Bioware is one of the best action - rpg's I have ever played.
It follows Commander Shepard on a epic space adventure in order to save the galaxy, accompanied by an assortment of characters, human and alien.

There are games that claim to allow the player to choose where they want to go and that their actions have true consequences on their game. Most do not deliver on this promise. Mass Effect on the other hand delivers this in spades, explaining these in detail would ruin the truly amazing storyline as most of the choices come at pivitol points in the game, sometimes however you can make a choice which changes the game without even realising it.

* Graphics

The graphics are stunning, the game will take you to many planets, some snowcovered, others barren deserts, some tropical rainforests to name a few and they all look spectacular. The attention to detail on characters, especially their faces is good, which helps as you'll be seeing alot of them.
The only downside to this is that there is alot of "texture pop-in" where items load around your character whilst your playing or waiting for something to happen. This can be annoying at worst and doesn't really ruin the experience for you.

* Sound

There is terrific voice acting throughout the game. The realm of emotions that the characters convey through their voices is brilliant and really is something for other games to aim for.
Gunfire and explosions are exciting and realistic, considering the weapons are futuristic they really accentuate the fact that they are unusual weapons.
Considering the weapons there is a large range to equip depending on the class that you choose, as well as armour.

The achievements in the game can be hard to get, but most of them are attainable. My first playthough lasted 17 hours and this was without most of the side quests and the extra stuff that you can do. Also i'd personally play through this game a few times so the replayability value is high, even if too choose different outcomes throughout the game.

Overall I would say that this game is a must buy, unless you are really against shooting and role playing.
