For Everything Else, There’s....

Advantages: I get to use a ® and Mastercards are great
Disadvantages: Credit in general isn't a good idea for most members of the population

...these days, but Visa and Mastercard are the big two, at least in terms of worldwide acceptability. I chose this one because I already had a Visa debit card, and I felt the need for variety, no other reason. My bank offered me both with the same terms and conditions, and there was really nothing to pick between them.

Credit cards are ways to pay for items without having to hand over, or even possess the cash then and there. They come ...
...whether you’re a Visa or Mastercard person.

I don’t use cards because I need the credit, I use them for the convenience. They can be used worldwide and with most you are not charged a fee for using them abroad. The interest rate they use to calculate your home equivalent might not be as favourable as some, but it almost always works out cheaper than withdrawing cash abroad, and is certainly safer. Most credit card suppliers ... more

Mastercard... The Master of all cards in my wallet

Advantages: You can buy and cash money from almost any where in the world
Disadvantages: overspending???

...I have got my new MasterCard a few weeks ago and It was a bit of a long and complicated procedure to get it. The story goes like that: I applied for the MasterCard and I was called afterwards and asked to send a proof of my student status (I am currently a full time post grad). On the same day I photocopied my University registration document and sent it back to the relevant address. Then I waited. After a week I called and was told to wait for ...

Cashplus Pre paid Credit card

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: You will never see your money again

Avoid this company like the plague.... I joined them a few weeks ago and deposited a few small payments via my bank on to the card. After only a couple of days the 'top up' was showing up on the cashplus account as available. next I deposited £200 via bank transfer and after 5 days, nothing..... No sign of the money . As I am unable to use the phone properly due to a disability I emailed them twice to ask where my money was. Both emails ignored. ...

HIGH CHARGES - DELAYED UPLOADS

Advantages: NONE
Disadvantages: HIGH CHARGES - DELAYED UPLOADS

Cashplus card is a good prepaid credit card but unfortunately takes a long time to upload your credit. For example, if you go to post office in UK and top up and you are abroad USA expect to get your money 48 hours later because that is how long it takes. WARNING, you pay excessive charges when in USA, around 7.00 pounds per ATM transaction, plus the USA bank charge, so be warned. remember 48 HOURS they take to upload the money, so if you need it ...

The Ultimate Guide to Mastercard by Deiz

Advantages: Nope
Disadvantages: They steal from us

Of course, Mastercard and Visa get good or bad rap's depending on the reviewer's own service provider. Some Mastercards offer low low rates, some are tantamount to daylight robbery. So I guess we have to identify what aspects of the credit card experience Mastercard are actually responsible for. Customer services for one. Very few banks bother to supply, train and pay their own monkeys to deal purely with Mastercard enquiries, rather they let the ...
...only thing they are good at is collecting 3% of your transaction costs and spending massive wads of money on advertising. To have a credit card is not in itself a bad thing. But the actual company that is Mastercard is an evil, evil empire that should be smashed. ...

Beware of this Cashplus Mastercard!

Advantages: Honestly can not think of any.
Disadvantages: Missing topups, only contact is extortionate 0871 number (90p per min), very unprofessional customer services

When you top-up the card Cashplus will deny ever receiving the funds. They simply seem to steal the money! For those that are unfamiliar with prepaid credit cards I will attempt to give a simple explanation. In reality they are not exactly credit cards, they work on the same principles of a debit card. They hold the Mastercard credit card logo, and can be used for nearly all the services that offers, but can only be used up to the value that a person pre pays or "tops-up" onto the card. Various methods of topping up the cards can be used, including at the Post Office, and bank transfers. All methods do attract high fees for example a bank transfer cost me £15 It is very easy to apply for the Cashplus card, can all be done online. The following ID is required to apply: passport number, driving licence number, electricity supply ...

Don't forget your Caxton!

Advantages: No credit check needed to get one and accepted pretty much everywhere that takes Mastercard
Disadvantages: A charge to draw out remaining money

not want or even be able to pay with a card. The card is supplied as a MasterCard so you will find it is accepted at millions upon millions of places around the world. Important points: Every company who supplies a currency card is different and so these are the important notes to remember for Caxton: Upon signing up for a card, only the person who's name it is in can load funds onto it - for example I signed up for the Caxton card so when putting funds on they had to come from my bank account in the same name as my Caxton card. Caxton allow you to pick your own PIN - this is ideal if you are quite forgetful and don't want to have to use a number they send. It is also has an another advantage in that when we signed up we did leave it quite late and that meant we only had to wait for the card itself to arrive and not ...
