Advantages Advantages I get to use a ® and Mastercards are great

Disadvantages Disadvantages Credit in general isn't a good idea for most members of the population

It’s a bit strange to have this category here since there are so many versions available, and no one specific type of Mastercard®. There are several ‘makes’ of credit card available these days, but Visa and Mastercard are the big two, at least in terms of worldwide acceptability. I chose this one because I already had a Visa debit card, and I felt the need for variety, no other reason. My bank offered me both with the same terms and conditions, and there was really nothing to pick between them. Credit cards are ways to pay for items without having to hand over, or even ... more

Advantages Advantages You can buy and cash money from almost any where in the world

    Disadvantages Disadvantages overspending???

My Story: I have got my new MasterCard a few weeks ago and It was a bit of a long and complicated procedure to get it. The story goes like that: I applied for the MasterCard and I was called afterwards and asked to send a proof of my student status (I am currently a full time post grad). On the same day I photocopied my University registration document and sent it back to the relevant address. Then I waited. After a week I called and was told to wait for several more days and so I did. After 10 days I got a phone call saying that I should call a number and ask the University department to ... more

Advantages Advantages Fabulous for people who cant trust themselves with credit

Disadvantages Disadvantages Pay for initial card and monthly fee, takes a couple of days for the top up to credit

This has to be one of the best things ever. If like me you cant trust yourself with credit (or if you have poor credit etc or cannot get a credit card, there are no credit checks as you are not obtaining credit) this card is a winner. I investigated this prior to obtaining it and it really is a godsend. The initial cost for the card is just over £9, with a monthly payment of just under £5. However I will add that there is a £2 fee for each cash withdrawal, therefore think before using this as an alternative to banking, withdrawal from a cash machine for banking is usually free. There is also a ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages You will never see your money again

Avoid this company like the plague.... I joined them a few weeks ago and deposited a few small payments via my bank on to the card. After only a couple of days the 'top up' was showing up on the cashplus account as available. next I deposited £200 via bank transfer and after 5 days, nothing..... No sign of the money . As I am unable to use the phone properly due to a disability I emailed them twice to ask where my money was. Both emails ignored. This company seem ok until they have a sizable amount of money of yours, then it dissapears and you never see it again. Next step. County court small ... more

    Advantages Advantages NONE

Disadvantages Disadvantages HIGH CHARGES - DELAYED UPLOADS

Cashplus card is a good prepaid credit card but unfortunately takes a long time to upload your credit. For example, if you go to post office in UK and top up and you are abroad USA expect to get your money 48 hours later because that is how long it takes. WARNING, you pay excessive charges when in USA, around 7.00 pounds per ATM transaction, plus the USA bank charge, so be warned. remember 48 HOURS they take to upload the money, so if you need it urgently - you're SCREWED!! Even if you upload at an outlet whereby you pay 2.00 charge to get it uploaded quicker - if you're in USA - IT DOESNT ... more
