Another disgruntled customer. I am dismayed by how bad the service is provided by Mastercare...
Very recently I had problems with my widescreen TV. My wife contacted Mastercare on the 24 hour hotline only to have someone at the other end of the phone to say that the "24 hour home service" would take two or three days. Accepting this was no option as we had paid for the service and needed the TV repaired. The TV was duely inspected by an engineer three days later. (Not bad you think!)
It was pronounced faulty and nothing that the engineer could fix on site. The engineer could not remove the television as that was not part of his duties and he had arrived in a car too small to transport a 28" TV!
So one day later the TV was collected by more Mastercare staff.
One week later my wife and I decided to chase up the TV whereabouts. It had been repaired and would be returned the next day. It was returned but returned with a different fault. The TV had to sit faulty for another two days while we again waited for the TV to be inspected and another day for it to be collected. My wife demanded and received a loaner TV (not widescreen and not tuned in) two days later. Our eyes had been struggling with my sons 14" protable to that point. Fortunately, we have Sky and were able to receive all our normal channels.
One week went by, then the next week we checked again with Mastercare. The TV was waiting for parts to arrive.
The third week we rang again. This time we were told the parts had arrived and the TV would be delivered the next day. It was and it worked!
We tried to get the loaner TV removed by the Mastercare people but again they said someone else had to take it away. That was early December. It is now early January. We have contacted Mastercare asking if they want the TV back...
Anyone want a crap loaner TV which Mastercare don't seem to want back?
Sorry about the length of this opinion but it sums up the speed of Mastercare and their service. If you have them sell your shares in Dixons Plc! They must be wasting money hand over fist...

Colin,
We had a problem with a MasterCare Repair on a TV.
We discovered that the engineers are not allowed to carry parts that are often needed to ensure maximum inconvenience.
If you live in a Rural Area, ther are only certain days they will call, it takes days to get TV's back to shops which also take days to diagnose simple faults and absolutely days to get back to regional repair centers.
I have no problem with having with Good Service Cover from the right people, but by taking out the extended warrantly one would expect that the company would keep parts in stock, otherwise I may as well order the parts to repair the set myself.
Regards
Gordy
