Advantages They will keep your baby warm and cosy
Disadvantages None at all for us
Just before Jayden was born me and my Husband took trip to our local Matalan to stock up on various types of bedding for Jayden for both his Moses basket and his cot. We spotted some Velour Sleeping Bags which are designed to keep your baby warm and cosy without the worry of them either kicking the covers off in the night or putting them over their head. These seemed ideal especially for cold nights so we decided to purchase a couple.
The Velour Sleeping Bags for you baby look a little bit similar to regular sleeping bags, they are narrow towards the top so that they fit snugly around your baby’s body and fan out to a much wider bottom to give your baby plenty of room to kick their legs about. The sleeping bag has a zip which goes down the whole of one side and across the bottom, this allows you to open the whole sleeping bag out making it easier to position your baby inside. Once your baby is inside the sleeping bag and zipped up there are two small straps which go over each shoulder and fasten at the front with a popper, this keeps the sleeping bag in place and prevents your baby from slipping down inside as they move about in the night. The sleeping bag is made from a velour material and is slightly padded so you can be confident that your baby will be kept warm during the night, the shell and lining of the sleeping bag is made from 100% cotton and the wadding which gives it the padded effect is made from 100% polyester, the sleeping bag feels extremely soft to touch so will be gentle against your baby’s skin, the sleeping bag is fully edged and the zip is concealed so that it cannot harm your baby, this is the same as the poppers these are fully covered again for safety and comfort. The Velour Sleeping Bags comes in various different colours and designs, we purchased two of these and we got a pale green one which has a rabbit face stitched at the top of the sleeping bag with My Rabbit written under it and then a rabbit stitched at the bottom of the sleeping bag, we also purchased a blue one as well which has a monkeys head at the top and the word Cheeky underneath it and then a monkey stitched at the bottom of the sleeping bag, the designs are actually made from fabric stitched on separately. The sleeping bags also come in pink with a teddy bear on and grey which has a giraffe on it so there is something to suit both girls and boys. The insides of the bags are the same colour as the outside apart from a small section at the top, in ours the green one has a green and white stripy section at the top and the blue one has a blue and white spotty section, even the zips are coloured so that they co-ordinate and blend in with the main parts of the sleeping bags.
Caring for the Sleeping Bags is very easy as they are machine washable and can just go in with your regular washing, I was pleased about this as baby’s are messy and Jayden is quite a sicky baby so it wasn’t long before he was sick on one of his so being able to just put it in with my washing was very handy, the bags wash well and look as good as new when they come out, they are extremely well made and seem to be hardwearing so they do not fall apart after just a couple of washes, they seems to be made to withstand the hard life they are likely to have with a baby.
