A shop that has grown from strength to strength. The clothing range that is available is fantastic and although they may not be brands that are in the main shops they are good quality and hence cheap. I bought two shirts and ties in Matalan yesterday for £9.99 and they are excellent material, they will pass for a shirt and ties from Next etc. The kids clothes are also very good although I find that they do not have such a range for children as they do for adults. They seem to be best for summer clothes for children. They also have quite a range of household goods, from cups and saucers to luggage.I bought a hardback case with a handle to pull behind me for under £30 well impressed. The only drawback I find is the wait at the tills at the end. Even though they have four or five tills open I have quite oftern waited 15 minutes to be served. Anyway cant complain its money well spent. If you flutter on the stock market keep an eye on their shares thay have rocketted over the last couple of years.

I find the queuing at the tills really annoying too - the staff seem like they do everything they can to do a 'go-slow'! I really like their household range, really cheap and good quality.

The best time to go for the childrens clothes are in the sales, you can't beat Matalan for tracksuits. I bought a couple for the children in the sales last year for about £4.50, just for playing out in, and they lasted as long as their adidas tracksuits did.
I agree that the items are good and the till system is rubbish, its the only thing that lets it down really.

Advantages: Cheaper than the high street , most things under one roof, parking on site (usually) Disadvantages: Can be messy and sometimes the staff are unhelpful
