OK so maybe I exaggarate slightly- but this book has sections on Linear algebra, vector calculus, PDEs, stats and more. I am not going to lie here- this book is as boring as any other maths text book and can be just as dry and hard to follow in places but it does have the advantage of being a good all rounder.
Despite the fact that the book was written for an american university course, I have found that much of the content is extremely relevent ... ...and does start at a fairly basic level in most subjects although it does have a tendency to pick up the pace too quickly and somewhat unexpectedly in places.
One of the strengths of this book is that it does contain lots of examples to work through at the end of each section. Some of these are answered at the back of the book but BEWARE- not all questions have answers there so before rejoicing that the question set for homework is right in front ...
