...settled on a packet of Matlow's Refreshers and a packet of their Drumstick Chews for which I paid a total price of just 20p, yes that's just 10p for each packet.
I will cover the Refreshers in my next review so for the moment I am reviewing the Drumstick Chews.
THE PACKAGING
These Drumstick Chews come in a rectangular packet which is predominantly red and yellow in colour with the word "Drumstick" written across three out of the four sides in ... ...is also contact details for Matlow's who are the people who make these sweets.
Inside the packet there are ten individual sweets which are each square in shape and measure approximately an inch by an inch. These sweets are wrapped inside a dark green paper wrapper which has the word "Drumstick" written all over in small white capital letters.

Advantages: very very tasty! Disadvantages: not enough in a pack!
Like many fellow sweet-toothed Ciao-ers, I am a big fan of Matlow’s Drumstick lollies. Mouth wateringly tasty little devils, and dangerously moreish; one is never enough. My only niggle with the lollies, however, is the annoying paper stick, which tends to get soggy as you get to the end of the lolly.
Imagine my joy, then, on discovering this little wonder in my local Tesco’s. It’s a Matlow’s Drumstick, but in a chew!
The pack is the size of a ... ...these days. The same red, yellow and green wrapping as the lolly, and the same recognisable name. My pack cost 20p. The packet contained about 13 chews, again, the size of Opal Fruits, Pacers and similar sweets. I was surprised that the pack claimed these to be “raspberry and milk” flavour sweets – nearly thirty years of devouring these, and I never knew that! The milk flavour isn’t at all noticeable. The sweets themselves are pink and white squares.
