Matsui DVD125

Advantages: Easy to use, good value
Disadvantages: Stiff power button, machine too large

...Welcome to the DVD revolution, that was the message from my other half when I got my Matsui DVD125 as a Valentine's Day present. Not bad, all she got was a bunch of crappy flowers!. I wasn't desperate to join the revolution, I don't think I'd even made the appropriate noises about getting a DVD. I saw them (and still do) as a luxury item I can live without. The great thing is, that all those mates who have had a DVD for months, or years are so eager to loan you films to prove to you how great they are. To date, I must have watched a dozen or so films and only bought a couple - cheapskate!. The Matsui DVD125 is placed at the low / medium end of the market, priced at £140 - £150. (Yes I checked). Advantages: Good value for money

...I really hit on a bargain for once in my life. Shall I tell you what it was:- THE MATSUI 14" COMBINED TV & VIDEO I know a lot of people go for well known names such a Sony, Sharp, Bush etc. So I suppose you are wondering who the heck is Matsui. Dixons store group, cover Currys and Dixons. Before the two stores merged Currys own brand was Saisho and Dixons own brand was Logic. When Dixons bought Currys out they merged their own brands and thus the new name own brand Matsui was invented. This may not be a well-known brand to many people, but because it is their own brand it is very reasonably priced, it enables more people from all walks of life to own and enjoy this TV/Video combi. Advantages: Good screen and unit size, nice and portable, pretty lightweight when battery isnt used
Disadvantages: Had problems with the disc tray opening (has now been fixed), battery pack heavy

...is perhaps not the biggest quality brand name out there and there may be a problem on some of their units with the disc tray opening but like I've said there is a very easy solution to this and hopefully thats sorted (I've had it a few months and its been fine since I fixed it in March, so I like to think its fully fixed now and if not I still have that handy paper clip!). The quality of the parts and so on may not be as good as other makes but its still a good item with good features at a competitve price, which was what I was looking for and I don't regret buying it, considering how much more some of the more well known brands charge for 8" portable DVD players.
