I was recently looking for a new fridge freezer, as I gave mine to my mam when hers went off. As I eat most of my meals either at work or at my mams house I didn’t really have call for my huge Hotpoint fridge freezer. After giving her it though I decided I didn’t like the gap it left in my kitchen, so decided to keep my eye out for a cheap one to fill the whole.

What is it
The fridge freezer is white in colour and is a standalone model. It stands 64 inches in height from the floor and 21 inches wide, it also comes 23 inches away from the wall. I didn’t actually check my measurements because the gap I have for a fridge freezer is much bigger than the ones that are available, obviously unless I splash out close to a thousand pounds for a posh American style one, but make sure you measure the gap and the fridge freezer that you’re intending to buy.
It’s a standard style fridge freezer, with the fridge section at the top and the freezer at the bottom. Both the fridge and freezer sections are more or less the same size, which I was pleased about. I do find a lot of the time my food tends to be frozen, as I don’t have time messing about with fresh food, so I like a decent sized freezer as well as a fridge. The actual storage volume of the fridge section is 140 litres and the freezer section is 90 litres – so not a great deal of difference in size at all.
The fridge
The fridge has 3 adjustable safety glass shelves inside it. The glass of these is plain which I like. I hate it when you get really nasty patterns on the glass. There’s a box which is classed as the salad compartment underneath the bottom shelf, again its clear glass, which is easy to clean, and easy to tell if you need to clean it! The temperature Control is controlled by a single thermostat. There are also 4 smaller shelves on the side of the door, one of which is considered to be for your eggs and the other for bottles. The other two are quite small in size, and I tend to use those for small bottles of sauce or cartons of juice. You can’t fit anything major into them, but extra storage is always a bonus.
The freezer
The freezer compromises of 4 drawers. The draws have attached fronts which I tend to specifically look for, as I always managed to smash my freezer drawer fronts. I either put too much in and force them stuck, or pull them too hard and crack the front. These actually appear to be quite sturdy and look as though I may have more difficulty breaking them! Again, these doors are clear Perspex and can easy be rubbed down and cleaned. The only downside to the whole fridge freezer is the shape of the freezer drawers I think. They kind of 'go in' in the middle, meaning they're not a full rectangular shaped drawer. You lose a bit of width, meaning you lose storage space. It would have been much more simple and effective to have the drawers a normal size!
Anything else
It’s an auto defrost fridge freezer, meaning you don’t need to hassle on letting it soak all over your kitchen floor for hours with a soaked wet towel lying all over. The fridge freezer is rated as ‘A’ which means it’s top of the range for being energy efficient. The total capacity of the fridge freezer is 8.3 cu. Ft. It apparently has a noise level of 40dB, which I’m guessing means it’s quite low. I can’t hear a great deal from it. It gets the odd buzzing noise but it doesn’t last long and it’s not very loud. I think all appliances tend to make the odd funny noise.
It’s easy to use and keeps my food crisp and fresh. The salad compartment is great to keep stuff fresh and more sealed off than the rest of the fridge.
Overall I am very impressed with this. It was very cheap and I am impressed with the size and how plain and simple it is.
