Matsui VD 10 HT

Disadvantages: no skip or menu function on actual unit

...I bought two of these for my sons Christmas but couldn't resist playing around with it first myself. At only £65 each from Currys I think these probably represent the best budget players on the market at the moment. For that you get ac/dc adaptor, car adaptor, small slimline remote control, headphones and RCA cables. You can even link them together using the AV in and out sockets so that you can watch the same DVD on both (a RCA connector is needed for this available for under £5 inc delivery from Ebay or similar). There was no carry case included though the salesmen gave me 2 for £10. The only thing missing from the unit are functions such as menu, skip, fast forward etc. although these are available on the remote control. All in all this is a good budget unit which will hopefully give many years of trouble free viewing.... Read review

...I purchased a Matsui mat120mr from a high-street chain, and their poor ill-mannered service aside, it is a complete waste of time and effort. Whilst I appreciate you don't expect a top-notch mp3 player for £24.99, you would imagine it would last longer than 1 week!! It's very slow, has poor controls, poor visuals and the battery life is quite frankly appalling. I got through 10 AAA batteries in my week of use, and didn't exactly over-use it. I would advise anyone thinking of purchasing one just not to bother, and put the notes towards something- a)Of a better standard b)Of greater reliability. To summarise. Awful. Don't touch with a bargepole, it's the Happy Shopper of mp3 players!! It's a false economy to spend so little on something that barely lasts 7 days, and is of fairly poor quality.... Read review

...Welcome to the DVD revolution, that was the message from my other half when I got my Matsui DVD125 as a Valentine's Day present. Not bad, all she got was a bunch of crappy flowers!. I wasn't desperate to join the revolution, I don't think I'd even made the appropriate noises about getting a DVD. I saw them (and still do) as a luxury item I can live without. The great thing is, that all those mates who have had a DVD for months, or years are so eager to loan you films to prove to you how great they are. To date, I must have watched a dozen or so films and only bought a couple - cheapskate!. The Matsui DVD125 is placed at the low / medium end of the market, priced at £140 - £150. (Yes I checked).
