Retails at about the £17 mark, and available from toy shops. Now that the 12 Dancing Princesses frenzy has abated, it can be picked up for a lot cheaper than this.

~~What I thought~~
Firstly, as with all Barbies, it was difficult to unpack- their hair always seems to tangle in all that wire! Then, unlike the normal Barbies, this one needed mum to insert the batteries before it could be played with.
Little Miss found the doll fairly impressive for a short length of time, but after a while the novelty of the skirt lighting up and the very slow twirl did wear thin. Genevieve is now relegated to being a "normal" Barbie and is played with like the others. in fact, I do believe she is less important in our household because she can't even go in the bath ...
Advantages: Lots of scope for imaginative play Disadvantages: Will so not appeal to non Barbie fans

I think this was retailing at around the £60 mark before Christmas because it was part of the latest Barbie and the Twelve Dancing Princesses fad. However, it has come down in price and can be bought for about half that now.

Who am I to judge?
I am merely the one who sets the thing up, and makes sure that I don't hoover any of the bits up.
The castle does give lots of scope for imaginative play. There are plenty of activities for the dolls to enjoy- eating and drinking at the table, sleeping in the pull out bed, entertaining the princes and of course, dancing (although the music does get a bit monotonous!)

This little set was available in our local Asda for just five pounds recently. I bought one to keep for my daughter's christmas present. For a fiver it provides excellent value for money. There are many pairs or ballet shoes, some tiara's and furniture for a barbie house. There are alos loads of little thinks, make up brushes etc that will inevitably get lost but provide entertainment before hand.
The product is mainly barbie pink and plasitc, but little girls love it and it is sure to be a hit. My only problem with it is that some of the dancing princesses will be unable to sit on the chair infront of the vanity mirror as their legs do not bend.
All in all though, if you have a barbie fan in your house, it is definately worth getting down to Asda to see if they have any more of these cheap. ...
