Why is it that all the Ciao surveys that I get sent nowadays only have a reward of 10p? Or am I the only one that's getting those ones? Alexandra x (arrrrgggghhhh - it's gotten worse, the last one I received was only 5p!)

***What is it?*** This is one of Max Factor's latest foundations which they claim can make you look up to five years younger. Instant youth in a bottle.
The 30ml bottle costs £11.95 and is available from most major supermarkets, chemists and on-line retailers.
***How does it work?*** Max Factor say: "In addition to traditional pigments for coverage, Age Renew contains microscopic particles which act as "light enrichers" which harness light so that it bathes the skin in warm light, instead of reflecting light from the skin. These reproduce the same effect as being in warm light. Age Renew gives a truly flawless and deeply translucent appearance to the skin, illuminating and defining the face's features whilst minimising shadows. Soft pigments diminish fine lines and cover blemishes without drying out the skin and accentuating texture. An advanced skincare complex containing amino-peptides, vitamins B3, B5, and E, and green tea extracts, helps to diminish the signs of ageing over time. The result is a look that is full of inner warmth and radiance - up to five years younger in a flash!"
***How to apply*** For an even application, Max Factory suggest using your fingers to massage the foundation into your skin as you would your moisturiser. Alternatively, use a cosmetics sponge which I find gives much better blendability.
***My experience*** I saw the advert on the TV for this foundation which claims will make you look up to 5 years younger. How could I resist? So I popped off to Boots to pick up a bottle.
Well I had high hopes for this foundation and got very excited at the prospect of going out on the town looking 5 years younger.
How disappointed was I? Very! Of the 6 shades, the Creamy Ivory was very, very pale, the Bronze was very, very dark and the other 4 inbetween shades all looked absolutely the same. I eventually settled on buying the Natural shade, mainly because of the name.
I was going out that evening so I decided to start getting ready early as a new foundation can take some getting used to and it usually takes me a lot longer to apply the first couple of times.
I followed my usual routine of washing my face and applying moisturiser before apply the foundation. What a mistake! The moisturiser had a strange reaction with the foundation and appeared to stop it from adhering to my skin, leaving me looking really blotchy and horrible. I persevered though and rewashed my face to remove all traces of the foundation and moisturiser and then had another try at the foundation.
Without moisturiser it was a little more successful, although the foundation itself was very thick and didn't spread easily. I did only need a very small amount but it took some patience to rub it in.
When I had finally managed to rub it all in I had a good look in the mirror to see what I thought. What a let down. The youthful effect was non-existant. I expected my skin to look radiant but it just looked dull. I felt I had a better result with my usual product. But nontheless I wanted to see if anyone else thought it made a difference so I put the rest of my make up on and went out to party.
Did I get lots of comments on how good I looked? The simple answer is no. One friend even asked why I wasn't wearing foundation as my skin normally looked much better.
I have used it again since and didn't get any better results.
Great review, but your friend actually asked you that question? David

Great review, as you know I have a particular interest in the health and beauty section for reviews. Behind all the jargon the cosmetics companies throw at us, at the end of the day, we just want a product that works and makes our skin look amazing! C x
