I received a free sample of Max FactorAge Renew foundation, which I promptly put on my dressing table and left there for about 2 months. I love free samples and whilst I draw the line at applying for ones that I just don`t want, I apply for things that I don`t usually use with the thought that I might. Anyway, I did eventually try it and that is it, I am buying it, I can`t wait.
It probably took me a while to use the free sample because I don`t usually use foundation. I don`t wear much make up anyway, except for when I go out, but I have never got into wearing foundation, maybe just a bit of powder.
Why don`t I usually use foundation? * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
I think the answer to this is possilby lack of confidence. I have seen too many people make a mess of applying it and it has put me off. When I have tried it in the past, it has not impressed me as it has been difficult to apply, has not looked right, has not been worth the effort. For a combination of reasons, foundation was not part of my make up routine when going out. I wanted to avoid several things:-
I didn`t want to look
like a porcelain doll I didn`t want to look, or feel, as if my face would crack if I smiled. I didn`t want to look fake. I didn`t want to look as if my face colour didn`t match my body. I didn`t want tide marks. I didn`t want to spend hours getting ready. I didn`t want to spend money needlessly. I didn`t think I would find one to suit me.
I could continue to think of excuses not to wear it, but a lot of people look great with it on.
I think the important thing is, I didn`t think my complexion was that bad.
First Impressions. * * * * * * * * * * * * *
The free sample of Max Factor age renew foundation was in a shade called natural and was number 70. I was pleased with this as I would have chosen this colour if given the choice. When I opened it I could detect a slight smell of cosmetics. This was not strong and certainly not one that would irritate me as I don`t like strong smells. I tried to squeeze a tiny bit out. It wouldn`t come. I squeezed a bit more. I didn`t want to squeeze too hard for fear of wasting some. I was only going into the shower anyway, so I was going to wash it straight off. I would never try anything for the first time when going out. I managed to get a tiny bit on my finger, my initial reation was that it would be much too dark for me and it was thick and and would not be easy to apply. How wrong I was.
Applying. * * * * * * * I rubbed a small bit into my cheek. Rubbed is probably the wrong word as I hardly needed to, it glided on really easily. A tiny bit went a really long way. I only used a fraction of the packet. I continued to cover my face, concentrating on the area around my eyes paticularly. To say that I was impressed is an understatement. I used my fingers throughout all over my face and my neck. The thing that I noticed most is that it blended in really well, although the area where it was looked better, I could not really notice a line where it ended when I started putting it on. It wasn`t too dark either, in fact it was a good colour match. It is a very fine, liquid moisturiser, it is as easy to put on as moisturiser, something that I do every day, so I can`t imagine why I have avoided it for so long.
Overall Effects. * * * * * * * * * * *
My skin felt good, it did not feel tight like it has with other types of foundation. Though I say it myself, it looked fantastic. I couldn`t believe it. I looked at it for a while, then went in the shower and washed it off, what a waste! I did put a small patch on my face when I went to bed to test for reaction, which I didn`t have. I had been so pleased, I hadn`t really wanted to wash it off, I couldn`t wait to put it on again and go out. When I did go out, it looked even better with the rest of the make up on aswell. It looked natural though, it certainly did not look as if I was plastered in make up, which was the effect that I was afraid of. The thing that struck me is that, I did actually have, a flawless complexion! I did not have any problems with tide marks or slipping. I did not consider that I had put much on, it goes so far. It only takes a little bit for good even coverage.
About the foundation. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Max Factor Age Renew foundation is £11.95 for 30ml, I think this would last for ages though as the free sample did me for a few times. I can`t comment on the pump action dispenser, as I haven`t used it yet, but I like the idea. It is a new addition to Max Factor. Max Factor claims that it takes 5 years off, it certainly helps with blending in fine lines and making them less visible. It is advanced anti aging and combines skin care complex with flawless coverage. I can`t argue with the flawless coverage one bit. It aims to create a constant warm light around the skin restoring inner warmth and deep translucency. It illuminates skin and diminishes fine lines. Apparently when skin gets older, it doesn`t reflect light as well which is what this foundation aims to do. The Max Factor website explains how foundation can make skin look much worse, this is what has put me off in the past. It is a case of finding the right foundation for your skin and this is for mine. As I said earlier, my skin isn`t that bad, when I have used the foundation, I have not had anything to cover up in paticular. I don`t know how it would work if I had a big spot or a patch of red skin or something. I would expect it to work well though seeing the results so far.
I wouldn`t mind betting that natural is the most popular colour as it is the only one sold out on Boots on line, typical as it is the one I want.
Max Factor is made by Procter and Gamble UK.
The website is www.maxfactor.co.uk and is very interesting.
There is a video of the Max Factor age renew foundation, that is, a woman talking about it`s benefits. It is well worth looking at. I registered which is how I received the free sample. I am not sure if this sample is still available, but if you do register, you are eligible for free samples, this is the only one that I have received so far. I would advise anyone to send for this free sample if it is still available.
Even if the sample is no longer available, it is well worth visiting the website and registering as you should receive a free sample of something by Max Factor.

I also got a free sample of this and quite liked it too. My favourite foundation works better on me though so I'm sticking with that. :)
