I couldn't afford those expensive zapper treatments to get rid of the redness.

I couldn't afford those expensive zapper treatments to get rid of the redness.
So I started slapping on more of my usual (expensive) foundation, over the cheek area. Not much success there. I could still see the capillaries. I invested in a Vitamin K cream called Medic8, which has certainly toned them down a lot.
Then, one day, I found a sachet of Colour Adapt inside a magazine. "Oh, it'll be a load of rubbish." I thought. It was a while before I actually tried it - but I'm so glad I did! At my age, without foundation, my skin can look tired and washed out. A gentle sweep of Colour Adapt and I was absolutely amazed! I had a lovely, fresh-looking bloom to my skin and within a few seconds, the colour 'settled', adapted, and I was so pleased!
When I bought my first bottle, it cost about £11 and considering some of the foundations I've used in the passed have cost twice that and didn't do the job half as well, I reckon I got a bargain. My second bottle I got off Ebay for £7 and with postage it still only cost me £8.50!
I wear moisturiser as I have very dry skin, but I learned the trick a very long time ago to let the moisturiser sink in before attempting to apply foundation, otherwise the foundation slips and slides or blotches. I've heard women say "But I haven't got time to wait for it to sink in!" Yes, you have! Prepare your face for foundation, start getting dressed; go and brush your teeth; surprise the milkman in your alluring flannelette (and figuring out what he was doing in your alluring flannelette should fill a few moments). Whatever your "What to do for the next 1 minute" choice, let your moisturiser do its job first and you'll find this foundation will glide on beautifully.
I find the foundation stays on all day. Perhaps it's because I do use a very, very light dusting of loose powder. Even though this foundation dries to a slight powdered effect (it's the only way I can describe it!) perhaps that light dusting of loose powder, with a large powder brush, helps the make-up 'set'. I certainly don't end up with a heavy, matte look. I couldn't get away with that at my age!
A couple of days after starting to use this foundation, I visited my doctor's surgery where the receptionist said to me. "You look really, really well! What have you done? You look years younger!" Either she'd left her contacts at home or the make-up was living up to its promise i.e. "A flawless look that's perfectly beautiful."
I have to confess though, that the foundation doesn't entirely cover up the cheek veins and I have resorted to using just a teeny amount of Dermablend Reflections foundation, applied with a brush, over my cheeks. But the Colour Adapt is light, creamy and brightens the skin-tone. I wouldn't swap it for anything else! Those of you who don't suffer with facial thread veins will find this foundation has perfectly adequate coverage.
My only 'con' comment is I don't like the pump dispenser. I found with my first bottle that I probably had enough for at least another 7 applications but once that plastic pump stops sucking up up the foundation, nothing, but nothing will let you at the contents. Also, because you need so little, it's a bit of a science trying to judge the correct pressure on the pump, otherwise you load up too much and either have to waste it or put more on the skin than you actually need, which rather spoils the effect. Also, with the pump dispenser, when you get down to that last quarter inch at the bottom - do not, I repeat, do not give the pump a frustrated thump with your fist (or hammer, depending on the frustration). This will incur a surprising sudden quirt all over your freshly laundered blouse, your dressing table and your partner's suit jacket that is hanging on his wardrobe door. Even the cat who had sauntered by suddenly found himself with a beautiful complexion. I speak from a messy experience..
As to the shades, I use 70 Natural. I am fair skinned and this colour is perfect for me. However, in the summer, I like to have some 'colour' in my face and use a little fake tan so I bought the shade 75 (Golden) but it was a most unflattering colour and felt and looked like a different foundation altogether. I looked as though my liver was about to pack in.
So, if your complexion needs brightening up, and you feel you could do with a little coverage but nothing too heavy-duty, try Colour Adapt. I hope you'll be as pleased as I am!

...to the site, joined the Max Factor Club and ordered my free sample and waited for it to arrive through the post. I was quite surprised when it arrived only 2 weeks later. I didn't actually give the little foil pouch much thought and it floated around my bathroom for several days before I decided to try it out.
We had been invited to a wedding and I had to look perfect. I was having a disastrous morning and nothing seemed to be going right. ...magazines were raving about, yup... Max Factor Colour Adapt foundation. And now I have the urge to spread the name around like wildfire because it has to be the best investment I have ever made beauty-wise.
My skin is what I would call OK - far from perfect, has it's off days but generally appears to be fine. It is also quite pale and freckly so I can't wear anything too heavy because it looks as though I can't apply it to save my life. Sheer foundations ... ...available almost everywhere that stocks Max Factor make-up - Boots, Superdrug, Sainsburys, other supermarkets and pharmacies. It comes in 8 shades - Sand, Creamy Ivory, Golden, Natural, Warm Almond, Bronze, Blushing Beige and Toffee. Some of these shades aren't available at the moment in Boots so I don't know whether they are anywhere else, or coming out soon. It's been a while since I wrote you gorgeous lovelies a review so please forgive me (yet rate accordingly) if this offering is below par. I don't mean to waste your time, yet I am getting rather excited and may veer off into insipid rambling.
Anyway, I have it here in my ... ...not covered by it. Max factor themselves give its coeverage a rating of 'good', which sounds, well, good until you notice that most of its other foundations have been awarded 'great'.
It's also quite pricey. I got it on special at £8.99, but I've seen it more commonly priced at £10.99 which is steep for mid-range. Might as well bite the bullet and go glam with Estee Lauder or Clinique if you ask me.
The bottle's quite a nice design wth the oh-so-modern ...

Colour Adapt is sold as 'skin tone adapting make-up' that is said to adapt to your individual skin tone to provide a flawless look that it 'perfectly you.' Sounds promising - and the best part? The shade 40: Creamy Ivory was a *perfect* match for my skin and at only £11.95 for 34ml's I decided to give it a try. It has a creamy, almost mousse like texture that glides onto the skin smoothly, leaving a velvety ... ...natural coverage. I apply using my fingertips or a foundation brush, either work fine. It dissapears into the skin, leaving an almost bare-faced-but-better finish. Due to it's creamy texture, it can leave the face feeling very slightly tacky, so I set with a small amount of MAC's Studio Fix Powder with a large, fluffy brush, not only mattifying but improving the foundations wear too. This combination lasts throughout the day with very few to no touchups ...

Colour Adapt comes in five shades: Creamy Ivory, Warm Almond, Blushing Beige, the uninformatively-named Natural, and Golden. It claims to adapt to your natural skin tones to provide a natural finish. The free sample I received was Natural, which is a bit darker than my actual skin tone. I have very pale skin so I thought the ... ...finish is lovely and gives a wonderful smooth but matte effect. It works well over moisturiser. It doesn't cling to dry skin or look cakey. I will probably stick with this product from now on, although I might try Max Factor's other foundations, as I'm so impressed with this one. ...

MaxFactorColourAdaptfoundation was the first skin tone adapting makeup on the market, and is probably still the best known. You can get it from beauty retailers, as well as some chemists and online for around £11 - £12. It comes in 9 shades, from 'creamy ivory' and 'warm almond' right through to 'toffee' and 'soft sable'.
The foundation contains ColourAdapt Particles which adapt to your individual skin tones to give a flawless but perfectly natural looking base. It's supposed to even out your skin tone without masking it and blend away imperfections. It's also oil-free so suitable even for oily skin types.

I have used MaxFactorcolouradaptfoundation for a few years now, and had always been happy with it, until Boots sent me a sample of Bourjois 10 hour sleep effect foundation, along with a money-off coupon. I bought this foundation last week as I had a wedding to attend and wanted a foundation that would keep my skin hydrated and well covered all day! I usually have quite dry sensitive skin but as I am currently pregnant, I have found my skin much drier and much more sensitive! I usually use MaxFactorcolouradapt but I am penny counting at the moment so thought Id try a cheaper alternative!
