Now, I know the above title is a catchphrase for another brand but I think it is quite apt and very applicable to me at this moment in time. Considering I'm now 22 and female I recently decided that it was about time I started caring about my appearence... really caring and not just looking in the mirror an moaning once in a while! Me being me I couldn't just try the popular cheaper stuff could I? No, that would be too easy on my wallet. Instead I went for the Clarins, the Clinique... and this new product that all of the beautymagazines were raving about, yup... Max Factor Colour Adapt foundation. And now I have the urge to spread the name around like wildfire because it has to be the best investment I have ever made beauty-wise.
My skin is what I would call OK - far from perfect, has it's off
days but generally appears to be fine. It is also quite pale and freckly so I can't wear anything too heavy because it looks as though I can't apply it to save my life. Sheer foundations usually work because they cover up my skin sins without actually playing dot-to-dot with my freckles, but then I have to get the colour spot on because even a shade or two out can make me look orange or ill! Needless to say, I have wasted more than enough money on foundations in the past. As a result, I positively turned green when I saw the price of this product... £11.95 for 35mls at Boots. That's £3.52 for 10mls! This is perhaps the only thing I would list as a fault regarding this product. I can't think of anything else that even borders on negative. The price may be high but I think it is worth every penny (especially if you buy it at Boots at the minute because you get 500 bonus advantage points!).
The product itself is available almost everywhere that stocks Max Factor make-up - Boots, Superdrug, Sainsburys, other supermarkets and pharmacies. It comes in 8 shades - Sand, Creamy Ivory, Golden, Natural, Warm Almond, Bronze, Blushing Beige and Toffee. Some of these shades aren't available at the moment in Boots so I don't know whether they are anywhere else, or coming out soon.
Unlike other foundations, where you pick the colour one or two shades above your own skin, you pick the shade of Colour Adapt that corresponds most to your skin. Yay! Finally a product that acknowledges that we don't have just one shade of skin! As long as it is close in colour to your skin, the foundation will do the rest. It has a pigmentation technology that adapts to your natural tones rather than remaining one colour. This means that it will look natural, blend in and hide flaws - what more can a girl ask for?!
The foundation is virtually odourless. What hint of a smell there is is the usual slightly feminine make-up smell of other foundations... nothing I can put my finger on exactly. The texture, however, is gorgeously smooth. It is therefore easy to massage onto your skin and ensure maximum even coverage. I find rubbing it in with your fingers has a better effect than a sponge because the heat stimulates the foundation. Colour Adapt is also oil-free so it is suitable for most skin types and won't make greasy skin look even worse. The formula is gentle and, I found, suitable for sensitive skin.
However, it does not contain a sunscreen. This is an important thing for me with light skin, especially with summer coming up. Max Factor recommend that anyone wearing Colour Adapt should put SPF 15 on their face before applying Colour Adapt. This should not affect the finished result.
I regularly commit one of the most heinous skin sin - touching my face. I do it sub-consciously all the time. Apart from encouraging spots, this opbviously also has a tendency to rub foundation off. The Max Factor website says that this particular product is not meant for long-lasting coverage, but just for adapting to your own tones aand creating a more natural look. Well, that may be the case but I still found it lasted all day on me. It didn't completely rub off and the effect was as long lasting as the product. It was a bit stubborn to remove and took a few baby wipes to get off completely but I didn't mind that... I was just impressed it lasted the whole day.
Overall, I think this is the best make-up product, and one of the highest quality, I have ever used. I love it, so much so that the price is not a factor. Believe me, it would be otherwise. I love the fact that it is personalised... making the user feel special rather than one of a million anonymous faces. 10 out of 10 for customer service and 10 out of 10 for the product!

I don't really wear foundation, but received a sample of this product recently...and am thinking of changing my mind now.....but it is a little pricey!

I love this foundation. I have real trouble finding a foundation to match my skin tone, and to be honest was sceptical as to whether this would work, but now I've found it i don't think i could ever live without it!
