Ah, the delights of teenage skin. Never know what it's going to do next. One day it's dry, flakey and tight feeling, the next you wish you had a spatula to scrape all the oil off. Not to mention oh so stubborn blemishes. I personally have all these things going on, combination skin basically, and I've always had trouble keeping spots at bay. Don't even get me started on clogged pores or blackheads! Don't I paint quite the picture?
Anyway, now I've recently started bringing a biiiit more money into the house, I decided it was worth going out and treating myself to a more elaborate foundation.
Meandering around all the makeup counters in Boots, I was completely lost. So much to choose from, I can't even decide what skin type I have nevermind what I'm supposed to put on it...so I decided to ask a representative at the Max Factor counter. I told her my budget, what my skin tends to be like, how much coverage I wanted and how often I'd be using foundation. For those who'd like to know (and I already explained my skin at the beginning), it went something like this:
- £10-£15 Budget. - Medium to full coverage. - I use foundation practically every day.
She recommended Max Factor Colour Adapt, it was around £11 and she happily went into detail about it. It has no SPF but you can easily sort that out by using moisturiser first, it's quite a liquidy consistancy and you only need to use a pea sized amount, it sets almost powder like. Sounded great to me, so I went ahead and got it.
So, Amy, what was it like? Well, Ciao, I've been using this for around 2 weeks now and it definitely evened out my skin tone; even brought a bit more colour to my face without it looking too tacky/obvious, that's a great plus with this product. It does stay on relatively long, about 4 or 5 hours before a touch up but I've found that my skin feels a heck of alot more oily by this point. This in turn has caused me to break out horrendously, it has given me more clogged pores too. It's a real shame, it was good while it lasted! Just goes to show that there's no One Foundation for everybody. Don't be afraid to try it out would be my advice.
I guess my search for the perfect foundation continues. Next review will be L'Oreal Infallible, fingers crossed!
