I have tried number of different brands and types of foundation over the years. I first used Max Factor Colour Adapt when I got a free sample of it after buying some other Max Factor products.
Colour Adapt comes in five shades: Creamy Ivory, Warm Almond, Blushing Beige, the uninformatively-named Natural, and Golden. It claims to adapt to your natural skin tones to provide a natural finish.
The free sample I received was Natural, which is a bit darker than my actual skin tone. I have very pale skin so I thought the sample would be useless. I decided to try it anyway. I applied a very small amount by putting small dots of it on my face and blending it in with my fingers. The product looked quite dark beige, but when I began to blend it in, it looked absolutely fine with my skin tone. I didn't look orange or have any harsh lines. The foundation's texture was lovely and provided a smooth, easily blended finish. The smell was pleasant; sweet but quite subtle.
I found whilst I was using the sample that if I put too much on, then the colour did look too dark, which is fair enough considering that it wasn't the ideal shade for my skin.
When it ran out, I bought a full-sized bottle of the foundation in Creamy Ivory. The packaging is a pump-action bottle, which is a hygienic and efficient way of getting the right amount of product onto your hands. My only complaint is that the lid was a bit flimsy and didn't fit back onto the bottle very well, but the product doesn't leak even without the lid, because it's a rigid bottle, so that is not a problem. The Creamy Ivory shade was more suitable for me than the Natural one, but both blended well into my skin, which proves that the Colour Adapt technology somehow works!
You only need a small amount of the product for good coverage, and my bottle has lasted me several months so far. It's easily worth the £11.70 price tag.
The finish is lovely and gives a wonderful smooth but matte effect. It works well over moisturiser. It doesn't cling to dry skin or look cakey. I will probably stick with this product from now on, although I might try Max Factor's other foundations, as I'm so impressed with this one.

Advantages: Evens skin tone, looks quite natural, a little goes a long way Disadvantages: Caused me to break out, encouraged oilyness, didn't stay on amazingly long
