For my hols in September I decided that I would have a look for some long lasting make up pieces that I could wear around the pool without having to keep re-applying.
Having already found 60 day mascara and 24-hour eyeliner my thoughts turned to lippy. As it was for daytime wear I needed something fairly subtle but that would great with a tan. After a bit of research on the internet I came across Max Factor Lipfinity which claims to last for up to 12 hours.
I decided to pop into Boots and have a look at the colour range but before I could get anywhere near the display I was accosted by the Max Factor sales lady who interrogated me on what product I was looking for. After explaining my need for a long lasting lippy for wearing at the swimming pool, she sat me down on a stool in the middle of the shop (not at all embarrassing or anything!) and stared at a my face for a couple of seconds. She then trotted off to the lipfinity display and grabbed a tester in what looked like a really dark brown colour.
She obviously realised that I did not look impressed by her colour choice but stated that she was a trained make up artist and asked me to trust her and see what I thought of the results.
Oh what the hell, I was already sat on a stool in the middle of a very busy Boots store, feeling like a complete berk, so why not let her slap on whatever concoction she deemed necessary.
The first thing she did was put a bit of blusher on me as she was taking into account the fact that I would have more of a tan when wearing the lippy. Then out came the very dark lipfinity.
This is not an ordinary lipstick. It comes in two parts, first the colour "stain" which applies the actual colour and then once you've let that dry for around 2 minutes, you apply the second stage which is a clear lip balm type product which keeps your lips moist and helps the lipstick to stay shiny. The colour part comes in a tube with an applicator in the lid rather like a lip gloss and the balm is in a twist up applicator pen. They are packaged together in a recyclable cardboard container.
The sales lady applied the colour stain (ref: 180 Spiritual) but wouldn't let me have a mirror until the process was finished. I was getting really nervous at this point.... what if I really hated it? If it really does stay on for 12 hours how would I get rid of it. The sales person explained to me that although it was designed to stay on for up to 12 hours of normal wear, it would easily come off with make-up remover. PHEW!!! Panic over.
The colour stain felt really sticky but I was told that this would soon disappear as the colour "set".
After two minutes of sitting on the stool looking very embarassed with people stood round watching, the colour stain was declared dry enough to apply the balm.
The clear balm glided on over the colour and I was finally allowed to see the result.
Well the sales lady was right, the colour she had picked which looked really dark in the tube was a really nice shade of medium coppery brown which glistened nicely from the application of the balm.
So I was happy with the colour, would the claim of lasting 12 hours prove to be correct.
I thanked the sales lady for her help and made a note of the time (1:15pm). I decided I would be happy if the lippy stayed on until I went to bed that evening.
2:00pm - after finishing my sandwich I checked to see how the lippy was holding out but all the clear balm had worn off. I applied a quick slick of my normal lip balm and the sheen is restored. Looks good so far.
5:30pm - i'd been eating and drinking all afternoon at work and the colour was still looking strong.
7:00pm - even after eating spaghetti bolognese for tea (involving lots of lip licking) the colour still looked good but again no balm left.
10:00pm - i've cleaned my teeth and the colour is still there. I'm very impressed. I'm off to bed.
In the interests of Ciao I decided to do my usual cleanse, tone and moisturising routine but to try and leave the lippy on so I could see if it was still there in the morning - all in the name of science!
The next day 05:30am - I can't believe it but there is actually still some colour left on my lips and none on my pillow! This is a fabulous product!
***The Verdict*** After exhaustive tests (well, almost) I can honestly say that this lipstick lives up to its claim and lasts well over 12 hours. The only reapplication you need to do is the clear lip balm over the top but then that's only if you want a subtle sheen to your lips. My only negative comment is that you will definitely run out of the clear balm top coat before you run out of colour but the good news is that you can buy the balm separately at a cost of £4.99. I wholeheartedly recommend this product to anyone who wants an extremely long lasting lipstick.
I'm definitely going back to Boots soon to buy this for my hols.
***Other Info*** Cost - £9.99 (top coat available on its own for £4.99). Available from most major high street cosmetic retailers.
Lipfinity comes in 27 different shades so there should be one out there for everyone:
Advantages: Lasts longer than most, great colours, 2 colours last two months Disadvantages: Appears expensive initially so could put buyers off, dries lips out
...hadn’t heard of Lipfinity from Max Factor then – priced at £9.99 from most supermarkets and pharmacies this product is a must have for any one in the public eye (oh that makes me sound famous!) or for anyone who wants a Catalina style pout (umm maybe that’ll put you off!!!).

Inside you will find a 23ml or 0.07 fluid ounce colourant which Max Factor term as ‘Paint for lips’, you also receive a 1.9gor 0.06 ounce stick of moisturising top coat (Vaseline in common terms! Oops bet I get told off for that!) The presentation box is in line with the £9.99 price tag. If like me, you like to get value for your money, you may be suitably impressed and having had the product personally recommended ...

...about the amazing Lipfinity by Max Factor which promised to stay on all day. Was it too good to be true?
Claiming to be a semi-permanent cosmetic, Lipfinity is actually in two parts – the lip paint and the moisturising top coat. It can be recognised by its unusual (for a lipstick) 5 inch gold box. The shade is clearly displayed on the top of the box, but I have found them to be a bit darker in use than on the box, so try them out on your hand or ... ...as they do not come off easily and you will end up with a rainbow of shades over your smackers. Depending on where you buy them from you can find up to about 15 shades, but only a few are light colours. Many are definitely for evening wear. Lipfinity is available from most high street chemists such as Boots and Superdrug.
I bought a shade called Delicious Delicieuse (170) which looked like a dusky pink colour and I paid £9.99. When you open the ...

...long. Lipfinity, by Max factor, is paint for lips. Sounds rather scary when you put it like that doesn’t it? Well don’t worry it isn't scary. It comes in a pale gold box that looks very classy and contains too bottles the lip paint and the moisturising topcoat. The lip paint has a clear section where the colour is kept and a long golden applicator wand for, well applying. It looks rather stylish too. The applicator is a soft pad style thingy (I don’t ... ...I haven’t found there to be much of a problem with overloading, a quick wipe on the rim of the bottle usually ensures that the right amount of lip colour is on the pad when used. On application you apply a thin coating of colour to your lips and wait for it to dry. It is quite important at this stage that you keep a steady hand. While my small mistake have not meant much of a problem cleaning up a large mistake will probably mean you’ll have to remove ...

Advantages: Good rich colour which does stay put Disadvantages: You need a good make up remover to take it off
...had seen all of the Max Factor advertisments for Lipfinity and decided to pay a little extra and treat myself.
I bought number 103 and it cost £9.99. There is quite a wide selection of colours, that range from pinks, peaches, reds, plums and browns, and all that's inbetween, so there will be a colour for just about everyone.
The products is well packaged in a small rectangular cardboard box (which is goldish in colour), and there is an instruction ... ...The product itself is a two step system, consisting of 'paint for lips' and 'moisturising top coat'.
Firstly on dry lips you apply a thin, even layer of the 'paint for lips' and let that dry for approximately one minute. To apply the colour, you use the applicator provided, which is like a little sponge on a stick. At first, I will admit that I struggled a little with this as I did put too much on my lips, and ended up, going over my natural lipline, ...

...I have never been a big fan of lipsticks or lip glosses in the past. I have quite pale skin and as such, the second I put on lipstick I look really dressed up and also as a result of my pale skin I have to make sure the colour and tone of the gloss or lipstick suits me. Because of this, I used to always shy away from lipsticks etc.
Until I discovered MaxFactorsLipfinity range. I cannot remember what possessed me that day in Tesco at the make-up counter to pick it up, but I just remember thinking it could be worth the £11.99 I paid for it, and I was right.
Lipfinity is a range of colourful glosses made by MaxFactor and are available pretty much anywhere that sells make-up. Prices usually vary depending on offers, at around the £10 mark. The colour range has something in the region of 30 different shades, so there is something to...

...MaxFactorLipfinity lipsticks are my favourite. I have different colours but one of the colours I use more frequently is Spicy Seduisante which I find goes with most of what I wear. I find it is very easy to apply on the lips and I only need to touch it up alittle after several hours of applying it on. My lips feel great and moisterised after using the lipstick and it does prevent my lips in drying out in extreme temperatures. It is a handy size so it can be put in a handbag for when you need to use it.You can also see when you need to replace it as it is very visible with the clear container. You apply the colour coat first then you use the moisterising stick after that which will prevent your lips from drying out very clever idea to have this separate. The actual colour is like a dusky pink....
