Ask a woman on how much she is prepared to pay on a product that will make her look good, then she would probably say that if she had the money and the item in question is guaranteed to work, then she might possibly pay that little bit extra.

The item in question is Max Factor Lipfinity, priced at £9.99, available from Boots, Superdrug etc.

What is it?

‘Lipfinity’ is a two step semi-permanentlip colour system, available in 20 different colours: -

1. Paint for Lips - 2.3ml

An incredible ingredient complex - PermaTone, that provides a semi-permanent colour that gently attaches colour pigments to the lips in a flexible ‘mesh’ effect. The PermaTone ‘sets’ after approx. 60 seconds, and the flexible ‘mesh’ allows the colour to move and breathe, so it doesn’t dry or cake. A single application should last an eight-hour period.

Ingredients - Isododecane, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Dimethicone, Mica, Quaternium-18 Hectorite, Propylene-Carbonate, Aluminium Hydroxide, Propylparaben, Barium Sulfate, Colophonium.

2. MoisturizingTop Coat - 1.9g

Smoothes and moisturises lips and it won’t dissolve the colour. This colourless topcoat can be reapplied throughout the day to maintain the glossy finish.

Ingredients - Sucrose Polycottonseedate, Ozokerite, Cera Alba, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol, Ethylene, Brassylate, Propylparaben, Propyl Gallate.

How to use
=========

Use on clean, dry lips.

Apply the Paint for Lips using the applicator provided, in an even layer and then wait until it completely dries, a minute or so, being careful not to allow the Paint for Lips to come into contact with your clothes or other items while it dries.

Apply the moisturising Top Coat over the Paint for Lips, for moisture and shine. This can be reapplied as many times, as you like.

To remove Lipfinity, use an oil-basedmake-up remover, baby oil or petroleum jelly.

When I first heard and saw this product, I have to admit that I was very sceptical. How much for a lipstick! My trouble is, is that my dressing table is full of lipsticks that I have bought in the past, that have looked very nice when tried on my ‘hand’, but it is not until you get it home and actually try it on your lips that you realise that the colour doesn’t suit you at all! So to pay £9.99 on a lipstick that was probably destined to join the rest of my collection was going to need alot of persuasion for me to part with my hard earned money and then I would definitely want to choose the right colour, that I would wear more than once.

I did nearly buy ‘Lipfinity’ a few months ago, when I was in a Boots store close to where I live. I had collected enough points on my Boots Advantage card to treat myself, but after serious deliberation - not wanting to make yet another ‘colour mistake' and an over zealous shop assistant watching my every move, I decided to refrain on this occasion.

It was only recently that my interest was raised again in this product when I noticed a friend at work who always seemed to have immaculate lipstick. I never actually saw her not wearing any, which made me question which lipstick she was wearing. Yes, you’ve guessed - Max Factor Lipfinity.

I decided that I really must try it for myself, I went to my local Boots store to decide which colour to choose. There are twenty colours to choose from at the moment, although my local Boots or Superdrug didn’t stock the full range. This time I decided to actually try the colours on my lips, after all that is why they have ‘testers’. The assistant was really helpful and had a cotton bud behind the counter that I could use, well after all you don’t know who or how many people have tried it on their lips do you? I did find the colours misleading on the box, showing what colours they were supposed to be - I found out that the colours came out completely different, so it is definitely worth trying them. The assistant was really helpful - as it really didn’t come off your lips, she also provided me with a tissue and some make-up remover, so it is always worth asking. After trying umpteen colours I decided on the colour that I wanted - No. 70 Spicy Seduisante, and decided to give it a trial run before buying. I applied a coat and decided that if it passed the test I was going to give it, then I would return the next day and buy it. (Not that Boots were also doing an offer of giving you 10 points for every £1 you spent the next day! LOL!!).

Truthfully, I didn’t really believe that this was going stay on my lips that long, but after eating, drinking and doing whatever normal women do, it was still there, it hadn’t budged apart from needing the moisturising top coat reapplying - the colour was still there! I was impressed; I was very impressed. In fact it was quite a sod to remove, you did need a proper oil-based make-up remover to remove it, just plain soap and water didn’t work!

The thing that really impressed me was that you could literally just apply and forget about it. It lasted all day and most of all, it was nice to have a drink and not leave half your lipstick around the rim!! Know what I mean girls?

The only thing that worries me, is that you could possibly use the Moisturising Top Coat up before you have finished the Paint for Lips, and these aren’t available to buy separately, but I did try using just an ordinary lip gloss instead which seemed to work. Of course Max Factor do recommend that for optimum performance then you should use both the Paint for Lips and also the Moisturising Top Coat together and using the Top Coat on any other lipstick will not give you long lasting results.
