I bought this product back in May, I had a big formal ball to go to and I didn’t want to have to be running to the toilets all night to reapply my lipstick. Especially after I’d had a few drinks my steady hand goes out of the window!
Firstly I wanted a bright red glamorous lipstick, to make me stand out against everyone else. Plus I was wearing a black full-length satin dress, so I wanted something glossy and bright. So I was looking for colour more than anything else, my friend and I looked at practically every lip gloss and lipstick available in our local Boots, testing each on our hands.
I tried this one on my hand and regretted it straight away, unlike most of the others, this one wouldn’t rub off! I had to walk around with a big red smudge on the back of my hand until I got home. I thought it was too expensive at 9.99 for just a lipstick.
Anyway, I went back the next week and it was on special offer, if you bought the LipFinity you got LashFinity free.
So I was getting lipstick and mascara for under 10 which is pretty good really!
Then I had to pick the colour; there are around 30 shades to choose from so it took me a while to choose. There’s even more now, as they have just introduced a new sparkly range. Eventually I picked out shade 110 Passionate, which is a deep red with a hint of purple in, with sparkly bits.
The lipstick comes in a gold box with embossed gold letters reading ‘LipFinity’ in tall classy letters. As well as the lip ‘paint’ there is a ‘Moisturising Top Coat’ in the box, which is a white tube with a twist up action. The side of the box has instructions on how to apply the lipstick. “Step 1: Paint For Lips. For long lasting colour apply a thin, even layer of Paint For Lips, then wait until it dries completely, a minute or so. Step 2: Moisturising Top Coat. For moisture and shine, apply the Moisturising Top Coat over the Paint For Lips. You can reapply the Top Coat as often as you like throughout the day, to refresh both feel and shine. To remove LipFinity, use the Max Factor Remover for Long-Lasting Make-Up and an oil-basedmake-up remover. For optimal performance from LipFinity, use both the Paint For Lips and the Moisturising Top Coat together. Using the top coat on other lipsticks will not give you long-lasting results.”
The back of the box welcomes you to Max Factor LipFinity “For incredible colour that really does last all day, the secret is LipFinity. A revolutionary 2 step system for your lips- long lasting colour plus moisture. Apply the colour once first thing in the morning and it will last through coffee, lunch and afternoon tea; you really can forget all about it!”
There’s also the French version on the outside of the box, and on the third side the ingredients. A little leaflet inside explains again how to use LipFinity in English and four other languages.
A two step system, you apply the lip paint first and wait for it to dry before applying the top coat. You can reapply the top coat as many times as you want throughout the day, as the lip paint can dry your lips a little without it, and it looks matte without the top coat as well.
Normally I put a thin layer of the lip paint on first, and build up until I get the effect I want, otherwise it takes ages for the paint to dry and it can look uneven.
I found that LipFinity does last a long time, a lot longer than any other lipsticks. It doesn’t stick to glasses when you are drinking and it stays put while you eat. I went out for a meal, the week before my big night, to an Italian restaurant to test LipFinity, and it lasted until I got home. I reapplied the Top Coat a lot though because it makes your lips feel nicer than without it.
I did have a few problems trying to get it off though. I ended up using an eye-make up remover that I normally use for waterproof mascara. Obviously I washed my lips again before licking them, because that would have tasted horrible!
LipFinity contains ‘Perma Tone- Semi-permanent colour’ which is also an ingredient in Max Factors other Finity products.
