As for the 'iFX' brush, I really can't see a huge difference between this brush compared to the vast number of mascaras that I have used over the years. Perhaps this is due to the fact that I didn't apply it as directed by Max Factor:

~ Does the mascara live up to its promise? ~
Well it all depends on who you are comparing your lashes with as to whether you have sleek and smooth lashes!
As for the 400% more volume - not so for my lashes. I don't have the shortest of lashes and only feel the need to wear mascara for nights out whereas others I know have to wear it on a daily basis in order for them to make their eyes look bigger! However I can't see the promised volume on my lashes after applying this mascara. Yes they are certainly more defined but the volume isn't enhanced by the promised percentage by Max Factor.

I can't use it downwards on the upper lashes, have to use it from the base to the tip - perhaps that's where I've gone wrong!!
One thing in this mascara's favour is the fact that it doesn't 'clag' when you apply it which I find many have done in the past, leaving black bits of gunk on eyelashes so that you have to start all over again! This certainly doesn't happen with this mascara, instea it gives quite a natural look.
~ How long does it last? ~
I've had this for approximately 4 months and in that time there is no sign of it running out! Granted I only use this on nights out as I've already stated I don't wear this on a daily basis.
~ Would I buy this again? ~
Although I like this mascara, mainly due to the fact that it doesn't 'clag' on the eyelashes, given the price of it and the fact that it doesn't give me the promised '400% volume' I'm more than happy to try a different brand.
As for removing the mascara, it isn't too troublesome to remove and doesn't leave a nasty panda-eyed look for the morning after the night before!!

Summary ~ An adequate mascara but too pricey for what it does!
Advantages: intense colour, volume, no clumping Disadvantages: none
Max Factor mascaras are the best around in my opinion. I started off using their Classis Stretch mascara a few years ago, then moved on to Lash Lift, but then they brought out Max Factor Masterpiece. I was in love. I still am. It's by far the best mascara I have ever tried, and it seems that I wasn't the only one with that opinion. Even now, I still read rave reviews in magazines, and see make-up artists recommending it on TV. It is rare I will stick ... ...time), but I've been using Max Factor Masterpiece for a very long time. Even so, when they brought out Max Factor Masterpiece Max, I was reluctant to try it. I find many brands ride on the back of the success of one product, and use it's names to promote new ones. Take Boots No.7's protect and perfect for example. After the huge success of that product, they are now bringing out countless others, all with 'Protect and Perfect' stuck on the front ...

...mascara!
I like my Max Factor make up but as you are probably aware it is quite pricey! £10 plus for a foundation, £8 plus for a mascara etc, so I was pleased when I got this mascara for £5 on special offer at Asda! But prices go up to around £9. It is the featured mascara for Milan fashion week so a good ad to start!!

The product - as stylish as ever Max Factor presents this mascara in a Black tube with gold trim, yes, a very classy look for a very classy item! The item is available in waterproof and non waterproof in brown, black and brown-black. The screw top is easy to reveal the brush. Although you can not ...

Advantages: Great for dramatic eyes Disadvantages: Can clump
I'm a huge fan of Max Factor products and have tried almost all of them I think! I find most of their range to be very high quality and as I use alot of different make up I like that theirs doesn't seem to deteriorate after a couple of months. Which means I can continue wearing a different look every day!
I bought this mascara when it first came out in the uk, it cost me £6.99 on special offer, but I believe it retails at £8.99 in most stores. If ... ...defines and lengthens lashes, Masterpiece Max carries on the good name but it also boosts lashes and makes them appear fuller, thicker and stand out alot more.
This is what I would call a night time mascara. I never use this during the day as it's a little heavy in my opinion for the fresh natural look I prefer for everyday. However, on the rare occasion I do leave my house under the cover of darkness I like to jazz up my make up and finish off ...

Advantages: Easy to apply, quick drying and doesn't clog the brush, your eyes or the bottle! Disadvantages: None
...causes the problem. The Masterpiece MAX Mascara has an almost contoured brush to replicate the natural shape of the human eye, whereas most others seem to be completely straight with those spiralled bristles from top to bottom. The result being your eyelashes actually sticking together rather than seperating as they naturally should, and the overall visual result is more of a clump of lashes than anything actually defining about the eye. Those being ... ...fact that even though Masterpiece Max doesn't state that it is waterproof on the bottle, it actually can withstand the brute force of driving rain on my way home from work. Many's the time I used to get on the bus to bewildered stares from old women wondering if I'd just been on an assault course with the British Army! Masterpiece Max is also very delicately perfumed. I know it doesn't matter much because you can't smell it once it's dry but whatever ...

Advantages: quick-drying, waterproof, good separation and lengthening Disadvantages: price (but you get what you pay for)
...not so compared to other Max Factor products, so expected a quality justified by the price. I've used several other mascaras in the past - Revlon Lash Lights, Sephora's own brand, No 7, L'Oreal etc, but they did nothing other than slightly separate (and gunk up) my lashes. The mascara itself has a light texture, doesn't clog up your eyes, and dries quickly, which is useful if you have lighter-shaded lashes and need to apply multiple coats. If you're ... ...piece of non-lint tissue. I also suggest using an eyelash comb to feather out and evenly spread out the lashes before piling it on so you get maximum separation, otherwise you'll end up looking like a drag queen (and not in the good way). If you can, buy a two-sided magnified mirror so the application is more accurate.
Given that my eyelashes are freakishly long already, I tend to sweep them slightly to the side so it frames my eyes, instead of ...

Advantages: Beautifully bold, thick eye lashes to flutter at everyone. Disadvantages: Not for people who already have very long eye lashes, like me!
I have been a fan of MaxFactor's MasterpieceMaxmascara for quite a while now, however I don't wear it quite often. A bold mascara isn't suitable for my eyelashes on a day to day basis, just sat in the office at a computer all day, and so I can't justify paying that much. When I saw all the recent advertising campaigns for this mascara, I was certainly drawn in. The claims of 'full lashes' whilst having a more natural look sounded great, and there seemed to be quite a bit of hype around it. However I had recently just bought another Benefit Bad Gal mascara to keep me going on weekends, so couldn't really bring myself round to paying more money on another mascara...

MaxFactorMasterpieceMascara
I have tried many mascaras over the years, expensive ones, cheaper versions, until I finally found this, MaxFactorMasterpiece.
I opted for the waterproof version, in black. The mascara was on offer at the time in Boots so cost me around the £5 mark, if I remember rightly.
The mascara itself is in a gold tube. The brush is fantastic, nice in size and I feel that it grabs the lashes perfectly, even the corners, without too much fussing about. Sometimes I like to wiggle it through to get an even better coverage.
The formula is excellent; no gloops or clumps at all. The colour is rich and makes the lashes really stand out, even after just one coat. I usually only apply 1 coat, I have tried 2 and it does make the lashes feel a little heavy, although in my opinion you don't need more than 1 ...
Advantages: Volume and definition with no clumps Disadvantages: You get considerably less in the tube than most mascaras
MaxFactorMasterpiece is the original volume and definition mascara, from which MaxFactor have now devised a whole range of Masterpiece products. You can buy it from most drugstores and health and beauty retailers, so it's always easy to get hold of. It comes in black, brown-black, or blue, and costs £8.99.
It has a unique 'IFX' brush, which is designed to define and separate the lashes, creating a striking, professional effect. The brush is also designed to be able to reach even the tiniest lashes in the very corners of the eyes. This original formula isn't waterproof, but there is now a waterproof version available.
It comes in a posh-looking gold tube which contains 4.5ml of mascara. The brush is very different to other mascaras, it's yellow and instead of bristles it has little rubber spikes all over it. It goes on really ...
