The product is called MAX FACTOR MORE LASHES MULTIPLYING MASCARA. It can be purchased for around £7.95 in any chemist stocking Max Factor products. There is currently an offer on BOOTS ONLINE, where they are selling the product on a 3 for 2 offer. Although this is a good offer if you like this mascara, I thoroughly recommend you read on if you've not tried the product before, as I wouldn't want you committing yourself to three pots of this stuff without hearing what I thought of it… as you can probably guess it isn't the best mascara I've ever tried!
WHY DID I PURCHASE THIS?
You might well ask, I have certainly been asking myself this question for quite some time now! Well, I've always been a big fan of the MAX FACTOR S-T-R-E-T-C-H MASCARA. This genuinely makes your lashes look longer, and having quite long lashes anyway I tended to look like I had a big spider on my eyes wearing this. No clumping, just great looking long lashes. But one day, I went to my local Boots and alas… no Stretch mascara! But there was the slightly more expensive More Lashes mascara. My usual Stretch costs me £7, and this new More Lashes was £7.95. I don't wear much makeup anyway, so a pot of Stretch mascara usually lasts me a good 6 months. (Yes I know they say to change it after 3 months… but I'm not throwing away a perfectly good pot of mascara just because it might be a little bit germy!) So anyway, I thought that I'd try this new More Lashes stuff. After all, an extra 95p for six months worth of mascara was hardly breaking the bank! And being more expensive and made by the same manufacturer, it must be a better product, right? WRONG!
THE PACKAGING
More Lashes comes in a 9ml pot with the usual applicator brush. It's one of the little round brushes that is supposed to stop clumping on your lashes. The same one you get in most mascaras. On the side of the pot, it states "gives you more lashes. No clumping or smudging." The pot is sort of like a bluey black colour, with a silver lid with a little gold trim on it. The three options colour wise are WATERPROOF BLACK; BLACK; and BLACK/BROWN. I went for the Black/Brown, so my pot has a little brown sticker on the top of the silver lid saying Black/Brown. (The little sticker also kindly informs me that it is made in the USA by Proctor & Gamble- it has a lot to say for such a little sticker!)
WHAT IT CLAIMS TO DO!
As mentioned, the pot states that this is "Multiplying Mascara," and that it gives you the look of twice as many lashes without clumping. Furthermore, the Max Factor website (www.maxfactor.co.uk) states that it "separates lashes unlike ordinary volumising mascara" and asks "are eyelash combs a thing of the past?" It claims "easy, controlled application with a smooth, even coat of mascara flowing down each lash from root to tip." It claims to use "a combination of two polymers, one cohesive and one adhesive and a phospholipid." This is said to "strike a balance between being adhesive and cohesive, meaning that it adheres to lashes but does not stick to itself." I felt it necessary to let you know all these claims, as it does seem too good to be true, and guess what… IT IS!!!
GOOD POINTS
Ok. Now this is my opinion on what it really does. The good points are- firstly, it's true, it doesn't clump. When you apply the mascara, you do find that your lashes are still quite spread out and no big clumps appear. Your lashes don't stick together after one application. The stuff goes on quite nicely when you first buy it, and the colour is quite nice. I usually buy black, but for some reason I went for the Black/Brown in this. A mad moment I think, but anyway, it's quite a nice colour, and looks very natural when applied. It also comes off nice and easily with a makeup remover, although water alone isn't enough to remove it. This did not cause any irritation to my eyes, but then I have never had any problems with irritation from a mascara. Unfortunately, that is all I have to say in the good points section.
BAD POINTS
I'm afraid this section is a little longer. Firstly, the claim of "Multiplying Mascara" giving you "Twice as many lashes" is false. When I applied this mascara, my lashes didn't look much different at all. They were a little darker, but they didn't appear longer or thicker. I certainly didn't look like I had twice as many of them! This was a big disappointment, as I am used to a dramatic difference when I apply Stretch Mascara. This is not due to choosing the Black/Brown colour, as I have previously used this in the Stretch mascara, and it still had just as dramatic an effect as the black.
Despite my initial disappointment in the product, I decided to continue using it. After all, I wouldn't want to totally waste my £7.95! Unfortunately, it only got worse. As I didn't see much of an effect from this mascara with one coat, I decided one day to go against what I usually do and apply a second coat. This was a disaster. Contrary to all the claims, my eyelashes turned to a big clumpy mess. So much so that I had to take it off and start again.
I would like to say that that was the end of the bad points, but unfortunately it wasn't. I bought the product about 2 months ago. I haven't used more mascara than usual since buying it, and it has already run out. Added to this is the fact that following a couple of weeks of use, I started to get those horrible clumpy bits on the brush. These then transferred to my eyelashes and ultimately to the end of my nose. How? Well I failed to notice a big clump until it had fallen out of my eyelashes and landed on my nose. The lads I work with kindly took great pleasure in pointing this out. Not a good look.
Furthermore, now that I have come to write a review on the product, I have realized that there is another disadvantage associated with it, which makes it more difficult to review it. There is no list of ingredients. Anywhere. I know that Ciao doesn't like people to list the ingredients, but equally, if you are allergic to certain things you won't know whether you can use this product or not. Useless.
CONCLUSION
As you can tell, I'm not a huge fan of this stuff. I'm definitely going to stick to Max Factor Stretch if I buy that brand in future. And today, for the first time in years, I have bought a non-Max-Factor mascara. I've bought a Maybelline one, thought I'd give that a go seeing as how my faith in Max Factor has been destroyed! So I'll let you know if that one is any better or if I head back to my trusty old Stretch next time I purchase!
Many thanks for reading, I hope I have covered everything but please feel free to comment or leave a message in my guestbook if you want any further information.
Advantages: doesn't clump or stick your lashes together, great for sensitive eyes Disadvantages: RRP
Max Factor More Lashes Mascara
I had seen many adverts on TV a while ago promoting this product. It was advertised as being made by Max Factor film make up artists and was supposed to give you the look of twice as many lashes with a flow motion formula that sticks to your lashes and not to itself.
I had tried dozens of branded mascaras in my life, always trying to seek out the one that worked best. I have sensitive eyes, so it’s always a ... ...run and I end up with panda looking eyes. I also don’t have many lashes, as they always seem to fall out when I take my make up off, so I had been on the look out for a mascara that promised thick, full lashes with no clumping or irritation to sensitive eyes.
After no luck with brands such as Rimmel and Maybelline, I thought I would give this a go, well that was until I saw the price. The RRP is £7.95. That’s way out of my league. Yes ...

Advantages: good hold and water proofing properties Disadvantages: Does flake a little
...and even condition lashes and Max Factor More Lashes Multiplying Mascara is no different. It claims to separately volumes lashes without clumping. It claims to be smudge proof and water proof. (Here comes the science part) It has super-fine particles which are made of the micronized pigments. Now I'm not really sure what that means but Max Factor say that these particles will create a more intense colour for your lashes.
Max Factor is a brand that ... ...creator Mr Max Factor himself was deemed as one of the most innovative make-up artists of his time. It is a little known fact that he created the first ever false eye lashes for the silent film star Phyllis Haver and the Bow Lips for Joan Crawford in the 30's. The quality of his products along with the endorsement from Hollywood stars has meant that Max Factor is one of the most successful make-up brands.
Now I will admit that I have something of ...

...the look I'm after...but with Max Factor's More Lashes Mascara the result is light, no clumps, giving bright and beautiful eyes. My eyelashes have never looked so long and full before and it makes you feel amazing.
I had no irritation in my eyes with this product and would recommend it to anyone. I probably sound very enthusiastic but that is only because I have had so many problems finding the perfect mascara that I'm so happy that I finally have!
... ...very pleasantly surprised that finally that advert you had seen promising to lengthen and give that volumising effect to your lashes did actually live up to that promise.

Advantages: Separates, lengthens, no clumping, easy to remove Disadvantages: Quite subtle
All mascaras say they don't clump. They all say it, but it's rarely true - you end up with four giant eyelashes and have to remove and start again. Even the very expensive mascaras clump.
More Lashes does't: it does exactly what it says it will. The brush doesn't look anything out of the ordinary, but somehow it manages to lift, lengthen and separate out all the lashes. I find it also adds a curl.
It goes on smoothly and, because it leaves no lumps, ... ...eyes.
It's also very easy to remove at the end of the day, so you don't find yourself removing eyelashes with your mascara.
Downs? It smudges a bit if you rub your eyes, but most days it stays on fine till the end of the day. It's also one of the less "dramatic" mascaras - if you want a really obvious look you might want to go for something heavier. But as far as I'm concerned, that's not really a down: it means that this is the perfect daytime ...

Advantages: Easy to apply, really opens up your eyes Disadvantages: -
MaxFactor Masterpiece MAXMascara was launched following the huge succes of the MaxFactor Masterpiece Mascara.
The "MAX" was supposed to make eyes look even more dramatic, with fuller volume, thickness and length.
Priced at £9.99, it is £1 more expensive than the original Masterpiece Mascara.
Is it worth it?
I'm personally really impressed by this mascara. The brush is made of rubber-spikey things, which means that the mascara doesn't clump on the brush because the brush isn't made of fibres. The brush is tapered at the end and this allows you to get to the lashes in the corners of your eyes and really open your eyes up, creating a framed dramatic effect. I could really tell a difference compared to my normal Lancome mascara. This MaxFactorMascara gives me morelashes because of this!

Advantages: my lashes look really long Disadvantages: not found any yet!
After searching for a long time to find the perfect mascara, my search has finally come to an end with MaxFactor Masterpiece Mascara! It is everything I have been looking for and more. It leaves my lashes looking longer and thicker than ever but yet they still look and feel totally natural - with NO clumps! The brush is easy to use and is very effective. The special flex in the bristles make the once messy application of mascara in the car whilst talking to your child on the back seat are now gone! I can definately be a yummy mummy in no time at all and more importantly, I don't need to spend five minutes in front of the mirror to do it! Maximum effect for minimal effort! Spot on!
Overall, this is a quality product that really lives up to it's name. ...
