Most of us girlies can remember our first kiss, but how many can remember their first skin foundation? My first kiss was when, aged twelve, the farmer’s son awkwardly planted a kiss on my cheek as we romantically stood together on a cliff top overlooking the sea in the shadow of a crumbling Martello Tower on the Seven Sisters in Pevensey, Sussex. It was a good job I wasn’t wearing my first ever foundation, Max Factor Panstick in ‘Orange’ as he would have had to be surgically removed!
Max Factor Panstick thickly applied with a resulting tide mark ending at the chin. This image of myself along with the black Panda style eyes and the pale, pearly-pink lipstick still makes me cringe when I recollect the obviously drunken man on the London bus asking me how much I charged to haunt a house!
Since those heady days of my confused youth I have never bought a Max Factor beauty product as I can only stir up memories that they made me look ugly! That was, until a couple of months ago.
I tested Max Factor ‘Seamless’ stick foundation on my skin and instantly liked the texture, coverage and blending. The colour range was small and uncomplicated with three choices of Light/Medium/Medium Dark and no fancy names in a language I don’t understand. I liked that! The stick is presented in the ubiquitous black and gold case that will mix and match with most beauty products you already own from each end of the price range.
Unfortunately I bought Max Factor ‘Seamless’ foundation in the very hot weather. Consequently, my impression of the first application was that it felt greasy because the stick was melting and too soft due to the heat. A light dusting of loose powder eliminated this ‘greasy’ sensation and appearance, but I wasn’t happy with the result, even though the colour and coverage were natural and positively ‘seamless’ Should I keep this beauty product in the ‘fridge I wondered?
Every six weeks or so I have an Ab-Fab kinda lunch with a couple of equally hormonal girlfriends. We have known each other for twenty or more years and know where we are at in life. The lunches are long and liquid with food not a top priority! We are always honest as we appraise each other concerning hair, clothes, make-up and our general appearance and laugh as we admit to each other that all this high maintenance takes longer to accomplish as we get older ;)
It is colder now so, yesterday as I began my make-up session prior to our extended girlie lunch date, I decided to give the Max Factor ‘Seamless’ stick foundation another try. What a difference the weather makes to this beauty product.
Still very creamy but more solid than in the hotter weather. I applied it straight from the stick but used a cosmetic sponge to cover and blend into my face and neck (Very different from my teenage days) I still needed a light dusting of translucent loose powder resulting in an even. natural looking complexion and smooth tone. Then my favourite mascara, blusher and lip-colour. No! Not Panda eyes and ghostly pale lips-I do not earn a living haunting houses!
Jane, Jean and Mornev are mellowing into their second bottle of house white, whilst sitting happily in the High Street Wine Bar and about to eat their Mozzarella salads and Thai Fishcakes. All is well with the world.
Jean says to Mornev “Your skin looks wonderful. It’s clear, bright and smooth. What foundation are you using? Dior? Lancôme? Estee Lauder? “
Any doubts I had about the Max Factor ‘Seamless’ foundation stick were immediately dispersed. My girl friends don’t do false flattery as none of us would get away with it. We all recognise a lie when we see one.
“No” I replied “It’s Max Factor Panstick!”
This was the point in our extended liquid lunch when we all fell about with laughter as we related our personal horror stories about our juvenile make-up disasters, yeah, and our first kisses too.

...to boots to buy my max factor products as I find they have a wider range for to choose from. I brought it for £6.95 for a 30 ml tube, the tube its self looks a little on the small side but it does go a long way!
I only had 3 colours to choose from natural, ivory and porcelain. I knew boots are now online so I check on there to see if they had other shades but they had the same 3 colours as my local boots.
For me getting the right foundation is ... ...agree with this statement from max factor, I always get a foundation line with this makeup even though I follow all the makeup rules and the advice from make factor themselves! They advise you to apply a light moisturizer prior to putting on the foundation and Apply the foundation in small amounts using fingertips or a cosmetic sponge to blend it in.
Even after doing all this I find that I still am patchy in places! My forehead ends up a different ...

...as I am keen on Max factor products. I did not really get on with it, that isn't to say it's a bad product but personally for the requirements I have for a foundation it didn't hit all the buttons. I need a reasonable coverage as I have a fairly uneven skin tone and this one was very light. As I said that isn't necessarily a bad point and might be perfect for some people just for me personally this wasn't quite right. Also because it was a lighter ... ...coverage and like most Max factor products barely felt like I was wearing anything. So if you're looking for the first step up from a tinted moisturiser this might be the product for you but if you need a reasonable coverage like me this might not be the best option. ...

Review of Max Factor Seamless
Advantages: Doesn't seem like you're wearing foundation at all! Good price Disadvantages: Too thin, doesn't cover blemishes etc
...tend to buy foundation from max factor, it's just always been a favourite of mine. Being a bit strapped for cash and in need of a new foundation I bought this one. I bought it for under £5 (can't remember the exact price) from a market type stall in town, and I've seen it in many other shops such as boots so I can't really say 'you shouldn't trust market stalls'
It has no particular smell to it which I was pleased with but it was very runny, no ... ...very disappointed with it, maybe max factor aimed this product at someone who didn't really need to use foundation because they already had nice skin, that's the only person I could imagine would want to buy it! Of course this is my own opinion and maybe there are others who found this product wonderful but I didn't... ...

Advantages: covers well, and copes with oily skin Disadvantages: expensive (normally)
Being a penny pincher I cringe at the price of foundation. So, how did I manage to allow myself to purchase an expensive brand? Well, it was newly in the shops, and the introductory price tempted me!
I have pale, oily skin, and find that my nose area is difficult to keep looking fresh with makeup on. This foundation, however, works well. If you rub it quite well in to your skin you'll get the best results, and it'll still cover well. I tend to moisturise ... ...evenly.
The whole idea behind this product is that it should blend into your natural skin tone. I have chosen the lightest shade, and unfortunately it still shows a bit of a tide mark if not rubbed in well. Another thing to watch out for with this stuff is that it can set if you don't rub it in quickly enough. If it starts to dry on your face (the cream's consistency is slightly dry) it is harder to blend in, and can be a bit powdery.
I think it ...

...would I be without my Max Factor foundation? I don't think I could live without it. It is the best thing thats happened to me. It may be expensive, but it's well worth the money. It is, as it says, seemless but you have to blend it in but you have to spend time to get yourself looking a bit better for going out. Well I have to anyway. After I use this, I can almost pass as attractive but not quite but thats got nothin to do with the quality of the ...

-fallen-face-down-in-a-deep-fat-fryer look!
Revlon Skinlights Face Illuminator (what a mouthful!) comes in a very sturdy plastic tube with a pump dispenser at the bottom. It does look quite expensive, but probably no more so than it actually is! There are loads of different shades, ranging from almost white to brown, but it doesn't matter if there isn't an exact shade match for you because it's very sheer and isn't like a foundation. I use 04 Bare Light which is slightly lighter than my own skin tone but I wouldn't say you could notice!
Normally I mix this in with MaxFactorSeamless Foundation. I only use a tiny amount, maybe the size of two peas, which is plenty! The lotion itself looks quite shimmery and scarily orange (the Bare Light shade anyway) but it's very sheer on the skin and very subtle! It sinks into the skin beautifully without any greasiness, and the effects ...
