Aqualash - mascara of mermaids?
Advantages: Stays put all day Disadvantages: Little expensive
...to find as all the Max Factor mascara tubes look very similar. It does look very sleek and sophisticated though, this is a general rule with Max Factor products as they try to portray themselves as an up market, high quality brand.
The tube comes with no box and is navy blue in colour with golden writing along the side. The writing says 'Aqua Lash Mascara'. The ingredients are not on the side so if you suffer from any allergies it ... ...does say that it is safe for sensitive eyes and contact wearers, is ophthalmologist tested and fragrance free.
The brush is long and thin, this is not the kind of brush which is designed to volumise your lashes so it is best to use an eyelash curler before using it and / or to apply more than one coat to get the effect you want.

*Introduction*
When buying mascaras I usually stick with Maybelline as their mascaras have always worked well for me in the past. This mascara (known as 'Aqualash') was recommended to me by a friend so I decided to give it a go.
The mascara costs £6.99 for 9ml, which is usually a little more than I spend on mascaras, but I was willing to give it a go as it is better to pay more for something that works than to pay a little for something that doesn't. The mascara is available in black, black / brown and navy. I chose black as this is the colour I always use. I usually wear waterproof mascara as I am prone to watery eyes and have had a few dodgy moments where I have ended up with black streaks down my face!
The mascara claims to:
Allow easy application because of the design of the brush! Fatten lashes by 200%!
Prevent clogging!
Be ideal for swimmers!
*Packaging*
The packaging is okay although not very eye catching, and it did take me a while to find as all the Max Factor mascara tubes look very similar. It does look very sleek and sophisticated though, this is a general rule with Max Factor products as they try to portray themselves as an up market, high quality brand.
The tube comes with no box and is navy blue in colour with golden writing along the side. The writing says 'Aqua Lash Mascara'. The ingredients are not on the side so if you suffer from any allergies it is best to ask at the counter. The website (www.maxfactor.co.uk) does say that it is safe for sensitive eyes and contact wearers, is ophthalmologist tested and fragrance free.
The brush is long and thin, this is not the kind of brush which is designed to volumise your lashes so it is best to use an eyelash curler before using it and / or to apply more than one coat to get the effect you want.
*End result*
I was quite pleased with the way my lashes looked after I had finished applying. I usually find with waterproof mascaras that they do nothing to 'flutter out' your lashes and this is no different unfortunately. Although after I curled, reapplied and separated a few times the end result was very good. The mascara didn't clump at all which was great and the mascara lasts the entire day without leaving black dots on your face where it is wearing off. There is a disadvantage to this however come bedtime as it is quite hard to entirely remove it all! Unless you have a strong eye make-up remover you are going to be left with traces on your eyelashes.
*Does it live up to it's claim?*
Allow easy application because of the design of the brush! - The brush does allow for easy application as it is long and it enables all the lashes to be covered with only a couple of 'swoops'. Most people will probably want to reapply however, so it is not necessarily a quick application. Its shape means it picks up just the right amount of product from the tube and it didn't flick everywhere, leave clumps or smudge.
Fatten lashes by 200%! - It did fatten my lashes, but to be honest all mascaras do that anyway! The test of a good mascara is how much it lengthens your lashes not necessarily widens as no one wants to end up with clumpy, spidery eyes.
Prevent clogging! - There was no clogging or clumping.
Be ideal for swimmers! - I have used this to go swimming in. I found that generally it stays on really well, but it does some times leak a little under your bottom lashes. I've used it in the shower too and it was fine then, proving that it lives up to it's waterproof claim.
*Overall Conclusion*
A good mascara. If you are looking for a waterproof mascara then this is a very good one. It doesn't do much in the way off volume though so it's best to choose another for night time use. I have bought cheaper waterproof mascaras than this that have worked just as well however so it may be worth looking around to find a cheaper one.
Advantages: Definitely waterproof and you don't lose any of the look Disadvantages: none
...and one of them picked Max Factor aqualash up. I know that it definitely comes in brown and black, but I am unsure whether other colours are available. I use the black one and was very impressed with the results.
I was hoping that it would actually be waterproof, unlike previous mascaras I have tried, and was careful not to get my face too wet the first time I went in the pool as I had never properly tested it out before. Unfortunately I couldn't ... ...by people jumping in and splashing. However, unlike the last time I wore mascara in a pool I did not emerge from the water looking like a panda - the mascara actually worked! And the results were very impressive! Not only did I not have black around my eyes, but my lashes still looked long and exactly the same as before I had entered the water!
The mascara is a good all rounder - it does not clog up and always comes out smoothly, obviously it passed ...

Advantages: Stays on for ages Disadvantages: Removing requires lots of baby oil
Having been using Max Factor Aqualash, as it's commonly known, for years, and having read some of the other opinions, I thought it was time I wrote my own synopsis on it! Firstly, some people seem to think it is expensive. I purchased some in April 2003, from Boots, for £6.50, which I think is very reasonable compared to some other mascaras - especially if you're using it on a daily basis. I find a tube lasts about six weeks, which equates to just ... ...panda eyes! Max Factor had an advertising campaign ages ago about the fact that one could wear it for swimming. Hmmm, I tried this a few years ago whilst surfing and the answer is yes, you can wear it whilst swimming - if you're the sort who does doggy-paddle and keeps your head above water. If you're a serious swimmer - forget it! However, if you're the sort who likes to wear a bit of make-up on the beach and just go in for the odd dunk, then this ...

Advantages: Stays on. Disadvantages: Does not make the lashes look thick or long.
Max Factor Aqua Lash is a waterproof mascara that I have used quite a lot since my eyes tend to water all the time. I got it from Boots and it cost £6.99. I use the black mascara because I think it looks better, but you can also get it in navy, but then it costs £7.77. It is waterproof but sometimes if I have been swimming for instance my lashes look rather strange but they are still black. If you rub your eyes little bits of it will come off so ... ...problems from using it but I'm normally not allergic to make up. I wear this mascara all the time and if you want thicker lashes you can add some extra layers. They don't really get much longer though.
I think this is a good mascara and I recommend everyone to buy it. ...

Advantages: stays on great Disadvantages: the price
When I first tried this product I had no choice but to use it I was in a production where my role involved crying alot. This meant that I had to wear mascara to strengthen the look of my eyes on stage but I didnt want it running everywhere or keep on reapplying and cleaning up during rehearsals. Well it worked on the night, I looked great, well I hope I did anyway and my mascara stayed in tacked all night. So I decided that I was going to buy some ...

When buying make up for my up coming summer holiday I decided that a must have would be a waterproof mascara so that my make up wouldn't run while in the pool or by the beach. I came accross the new waterproof mascara from maxfactor and decided to give it a try. Quite expensive at £7-00 but well worth it if it worked. The packaging was typical maxfactor style, dark blue with gold writing, not too fancy but nice. After trying it on it certainly made ... ...wanted from a mascara. It also claims to keep them in good condition. After splashing my face with water in order to test the waterproof claim i found that it didn't budge. In fact, even my eye make up remover could not get it all off properly. An industial strentgh remover was necessary, well not quite that strong but you take my point. I spent two hot weeks in the sun without having to worry about my make up. Perfect!!! ...

Advantages: excellent coverage, increases volume and length, holds curl, great price Disadvantages: removal is a bit time consuming!
MaxFactor Masterpiece Mascara
I have tried many mascaras over the years, expensive ones, cheaper versions, until I finally found this, MaxFactor Masterpiece.
I opted for the waterproof version, in black. The mascara was on offer at the time in Boots so cost me around the £5 mark, if I remember rightly.
The mascara itself is in a gold tube. The brush is fantastic, nice in size and I feel that it grabs the lashes perfectly, even the corners, without too much fussing about. Sometimes I like to wiggle it through to get an even better coverage.
The formula is excellent; no gloops or clumps at all. The colour is rich and makes the lashes really stand out, even after just one coat. I usually only apply 1 coat, I have tried 2 and it does make the lashes feel a little heavy, although in my opinion you don't need more than 1 ...
Advantages: applicator brush is good for short lashes Disadvantages: isnt on sale too much - not many special offers for the product and can be pricey in comparison
I have trouble finding the right mascara for my eyelashes as they are short and sparse. I used the waterproof black version of the mascara. This mascara really does lengthen my lashes and gives it definition. It is absolutely waterproof and doesnt smudge like some other so called waterproofmascaras. I do like the brush that maxfactor masterpiece uses as it means i am able to use the mascara easily on the shortest of lashes without fear of poking myself in the eye or smudging some on my eye lid!
The colour is good as well and consistency of the mascara is excellent as it does not dry out very quickly like some other brands.
Will definitely repurchase this when its on offer at boots or superdrug. ...
Advantages: Doesn't clag. Disadvantages: Doesn't give the promised 400% more volume that it promises!
' on the eyelashes, given the price of it and the fact that it doesn't give me the promised '400% volume' I'm more than happy to try a different brand.
As for removing the mascara, it isn't too troublesome to remove and doesn't leave a nasty panda-eyed look for the morning after the night before!!
