Advantages: reliable, every disc works, long shelf life Disadvantages: Pricy
I bought the first batch of Verbatim DVD+RW from Amazon in 2004 and then bought some more in 2006 from DigiUK.com.
Reliability
They are used as re-writable disc for temporarily storing holiday photos, documents, electronic statements/bills etc until nearly a DVD full --> burn into DVD+/-R disc. Also, they are temporary recording of TV programmes using my DVD recorder. Most of them are used regularly since 2004. Almost 5 years on none of them shows any sign of failure.
Everything is still retrievable e.g. one directory of my photos taken back in Dec 2004 and stored in a pair of them (double backup) are still okay. I can copy all the photos to my PC and still can see them (both discs tried to make sure). Therefore these discs can last for more than 4 years from the date of purchase, with the date of manufacture well before ...
Advantages: Enough space Disadvantages: Keep stopping
Well, I don't know what to say about this pack. Verbatim always had good CDs and DVDs. But the last 3 dvds just didn't did their jobs... Maybe it's just my computer that burns really bad dvds or just my program for burning them.... It's also posible that I have DVD player that isn't so good. I really don't know but i know that my Verbatim DVDs keep stopping... I keep them in boxes, so they aren't damaged. I will decide if I will keep buying them or not. There are other types of dvds to buy so this is not the problem... Ok, i hope you don't have the same problems than me... In general this pack of dvds is totally cool and I just wanted to write about this, because maybe I'm not the only one with this problems... ...
Advantages: Good quality, nice price, oooh a spindle Disadvantages: same as most dvd-rw's
these are mainly for making DVD movies that you can play on your home DVD player, or DVD drive on a computer. Apart from DVD movies, you can make a data discs, which is great for backing up large amounts of data from your hard drive. E.g.: if you want to reformat your computer but keep all of your music or photos. These are much better for doing this than CD-Rs and -RWs, as you can put roughly 6 or 7 times the amount of data on them as you could a normal CD-R.
Because these discs are +RW, make sure they are compatible with your DVD-RW. If you have a DVD-RW, then they wont work, but if you have either a +RW, or a +/- then they will be fine also.
These can be re-written up to 1000 times, unlike DVD-R discs which can only be written once. This is good for backing up data before a format of your hard drive, as you can put the data on your ...
