I was advised that the Maxi Cosi would fit in most family cars as with any toddler seat it's quite bulky, we have a Citroen Berlingo, so we don't have any problems. My friend has a smaller Punto and it also fits in her car quite snugly.

I have always used Britax car seats for my children. When my son was 2 year old I decided the previous Britax car seat was looking a bit shabby and torn, so on my friends recommendation I decided upon the Maxi Cosi Priori Toddler Seat. I was advised that the Maxi Cosi would fit in most family cars as with any toddler seat it's quite bulky, we have a Citroen Berlingo, so we don't have any problems. My friend has a smaller Punto and it also fits in her car quite snugly.
COMPANY DETAILS Up until that point I hadn't heard about Maxi Cosi as a car seat manufacturer and found out they are at the top end of the market in both price and safety innovations. The company who makes Maxi Cosi products is Dorel Netherlands partnered with Quinny who produce buggies and prams and Safety First who produce a whole range of in-house safety products.
SAFETY The most important reason we buy a car seat for our child. Maxi Cosi meet all the European safety standards ECE/R44/03. They also have a Side Impact Protection System in their seats, I had never heard of this until I bought the car seat. On top of new safety measures in child car seat safety, you are also urged to read the following checklist.
~ Never buy second hand car seats. It has a history you don't know about. ~ Only purchase a car seat suitable for your child's weight. ~ Never use a car seat that has been used in an accident. ~ Never place a car seat on a passenger seat equipped with an airbag.
THE LOOK The car seat is suitable from 9 month until around 4 years, (weight 9-18kg). It is forward facing and more suited to strap into the back seats. Can be used with three or two point seat belts. It has a compound buckle, which took me a while to master as it's a bit like a puzzle. Basically you have to fit the two sections together before it will click into place and be secure.
There is a colour choice of four - 1) Harry, which I chose; is grey and black smart velour material, 2) Miles which is petrol blue 3) Potter which is black and 4) Ziggy which is the funky black and white zebra colour. The material is hardwearing in the main, and the velour trim looks great when new I thought it may look grubby after a short while. My son is 2 and the seat had to put up with lots of grubby, sticky handprints. Amazingly it still looks half decent, the covers are washable, and after the first wash it came up brand new again! The four position seat is great, at full recline he looks really comfortable sleeping and his head isn't crooked like my last two position car seat.
The locking clip to secure the seat belt in place are the best I have used in any car seat so far. When you have the seat belt in place it is tightly secured by inserting it through the clip which pulls down and locks. Previous seats with a twisting lock method which can easily become loose.
PLUS POINTS ~ My son is big for his age and the Maxi Cosi provides loads of space. Other seats have a 'bucket seat' look to them and don't seem as comfortable as the Maxi Cosi does for my son. In addition it has 3 shoulder slots to adjust to as your child grows. ~ Another big plus is the way you adjust the harness. Very handy if your child is wearing a bulky coat one journey then a T shirt the next. This is the easiest harness adjustment I have come across; there is one lever to press in at the front lower part of the seat. You really know the harness straps are a snug fit, on other car seat models I have had meant you had to fiddle around the back and you still couldn't get a good fit. ~ There are little strap holders either side of the seat to keep the straps from falling into the chair when you try to strap your child in. This works well as a lot of the time I have to physically hold my son in kicking and screaming whilst simultaneously searching for the straps!! ~ The straps themselves are quite twist proof compared to others which tangle at the first opportunity. Also the padded shoulder parts of the straps are secure to give comfort if the car jolts forward. I have looked at others which are removable and from experience children can undo them (they are usually Velcro) leaving the rough strap only, which can be uncomfortable. ~ The biggest plus point between this seat and others I have looked at is that the Maxi Cosi has a higher back to support the head and the sides are more prominent for support to the head area. I think this car seat is geared toward the fact that children fill out and grow and therefore a small 9 month old baby could look lost but would be perfectly fine providing he's over 9kg.
MINOR NIGGLES ~ The initial installation can take ages. As with any new car seat I wanted to get it right, but I found the process of actually getting the seat belts through the back of the car seat very awkward. After a few attempts I realized that to allow optimum space to do this; put the seat into full recline. ~ Not so much a niggle but I better tell you how to do it. You may want to wash the cover; again this is a marathon for the first time, how many people actually get out the instructions again? Well I don't. I found slipping the cover off easy then you have to thread the lower harness straps through the lower holes to allow the material part to be released. They don't look as if they will thread through; they do, I checked the manual to be sure! All in all once you know it's a lot easier than others I have washed. ~ Cost (see below)
THE COST Quite expensive I thought. 99.99 GBP is the most competitive in the high street; this is from Babies R Us. However, online Kiddiecare.com offer a great price of 74.99 GBP My friend paid around 130.00 GBP so it is worth shopping around as always.
OVERALL I love the car seat, and would recommend to anyone, even on a stretched budget like I was at the time. It has been well worth the money so far, in comparison to what I could have bought I feel the Maxi Cosi has been far superior in comfort and safety.
POINTERS I always check the seat every journey now to ensure it's still secure. The belts have no slack on them as the locking clip does its job perfectly but sometimes my son has unclipped the seat belt as he can reach down, so I would recommend checking that before every journey. Also the fastening buckle, children are very clever and don't presume they cannot open it, my son can. These two problems I have encountered with every car seat, my son is learning not to do this now as my reaction (I think) makes him stop. Short of a combination lock I'm not sure how this can be resolved. I think manufacturers should look into this!
Advantages: Ease of fitting, ratchet tensioner,5 point harness, harness clips and padding,3 recline positions,Cost. Disadvantages: Difficult to clean, quite bulky to move.
...However,we found the Maxi Cosi Priori XP,which attracted us initially to the comfy and supportive shape and the sturdy frame.
THE SPEC?
It has 3 recline positions, the first is almost lying down, which was perfect for our 'young' boy.
It has a five point safety harness, which is well padded over the shoulders and between the legs and is a sturdy metal clip, not a flimsy plastic one that doesn't last, which I found a breeze putting together, but my mum ... ...don't see my son managing to pop it anytime soon!
The seat itself has clips on either side and on the front to hook the harness straps around, for ease of getting your child in and out, tangle free.Which is really handy, but they work best when your child is still in the smallest size of harness.
The harness is slackened by a button hid away under the harness hook on the front, which is neat, but not very easy for a 'new person' to find,or to explain, and ...

Maxi-Cosi Priori
The Maxi-Cosi priori is a group 1 Car seat, This means it falls into the category for babies over 9 months up until the age of 4, depending on the child’s size and weight. We have recently purchased a Priori XP, after a disasterous buy for our baby. It’s a car seat I will totally recommend to other mums out there. The XP is a version with ‘Xtra Protection’ , and there is also another version of the Priori called the SPS which has ... ...back ground as to how we came to buy this seat for ourselves.
At Christmas my son received a generous voucher for Argos from a relative and being only 4 months old we decided to spend wisely and buy him a carseat for the next stage and a high chair. We chose a carseat from Mamas and Papas called the Pro-tour. It is a group 1, 2 carseat and as we didn’t understand much about second stage carseats we trusted the Argos blurb about how it was suitable ...

Advantages: Very comfortable and safe Disadvantages: Required removal of rear headrest in our car
Choosing the Maxi Cosi Priori XP for our daughter was one of the best purchases as a parent so far!
Firstly it's easy to fit. We did go to a baby shop to be shown how, however, it really is quite simple. 2 of the main things I love about this seat is the 'wings' on the sides. So when my daughter falls asleep in the chair, her head rests against the sides of the seat (wings). The other main reason was the very easily reclining action. There is a ... ...reach from my drivers seat, and we have quite a large car) which you simply pull towards you, and the chair tilts backwards. This never wakes my daughter if I do this once she has dropped off to sleep. The lever is out of the way, so there's no chance your child can find it to play with it.
Another great feature is the hooks on the side of the chair for tucking in the straps after undoing them. This keeps the straps out of the way, ready to put ...

Advantages: Easy to fit and clean, Sturdy Construction Disadvantages: Not toddler proof
...wife and I bought a Maxi Cosi Priori car seat after being impressed with the Maxi Cosi baby seat we had used previously - but it has it's dangers.
My eldest daughter (Verity) was around a 10 months old by the time we decided she needed to move to a toddler car seat, in this respect she was probably making this move later than some other children, but she it quite petite.
The Priori is, generally, a very good car seat. The seat is well padded, with ... ...compare the mechanism with any other to determine if my little Houdini would have had a tougher time with any other.
This incident hasn't put us off Maxi Cosi however, and Verity (at 4 1/2) has just outgrown the Priori and moved into a Maxi Cosi booster. ...

Advantages: Secure fit Disadvantages: Could not think of any
when my son was about 8 or 9 months old, and his legs were dangling off the end of his carry-tot, i decided it was time to buy a "proper" car seat. i looked around and this was one of the seats i like best (well, it did match the upholstery in the car, you know!) - but as a single mum, i had to consider the price factor, and initially chose a cheaper seat. i have to admit that i wasn't happy with the fit of the first one i bought, so i went to a ... ...in fitting different brands. the nice young gentlemen (i must be gettin' old, saying something like that!) did not criticise the seat i had bought, but did comment that he didn't think it fitted into my car properly. which is what i felt too. patiently, he tried many different seats, and was fairly happy with some - but you could tell he wasn't over-enamoured. after telling me that the maxi-cosi priori was one of the seats that fits most cars, he ...
