Spot Bakes A Cake.....by Eric Hill We had been given some Spot the dog books by a colleague of mine at work and Jack absolutely loved them, They had lift the flaps and Jack would laugh each time one was lifted up. O I decided for Christmas to buy him his own brand new Spot the dog book. I bought it from Waterstones and I think there was a 3 for 2 offer on but the book was charged at the RRP of £4.99p. I am sure you could get it cheaper by looking on line though. The book is aboard book meaning that it is perfect for small hands as the pages are thick and easy to turn. It also means that it is very hard wearing and even the ones that have been passed down to us are still in really good condition. Diamond In The Rough

Advantages: Pretty dark humored
Disadvantages: A new forgotten movie

It's a sad fact of life that some of the best American movies either never make it across the water to the UK, or they take a considerable time doing so. Just Add Water is one of those movies; it has all the aspects about it that make comedies like Superbad (although I hated this) and the many Wes Anderson films so successful. A simple fact of budgeting Stateside however meant that even there few got to see the movie and now it's released on DVD for the first time it's getting some real attention. With no pending releases dates for Cinema or DVD in the UK, and not as much as a submission to the British Board Of Film Classification, for us UK movie lovers the only way you'll see this is by picking up a cheap US DVD from the likes of Ebay. Comfort Cakes

Advantages: entertaining read on grim subjects
Disadvantages: only minor ones

Angel Tungaraza and her husband have moved from Tanzania to Rwanda because more money can be earned there. After the Civil War money has been pouring into the country attracting foreigners from all parts of the world, business men, volunteer workers, UN and CIA employees among them. Mr Tungaraza works as a Special Consultant at the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology, Angel works from home, she bakes cakes on order for special occasions. They?re elderly people and could enjoy a quiet life as a couple after raising two children, but both children have died, their son was shot by robbers and their daughter died of AIDS. They?ve left three and two children respectively who now live with their grandparents. I can see three levels on which the book works.
