MaxiMuscle Viper 1kg Tub: Train harder for longer - the very latest in rehydration and ... more
energy research Maximuscle's Viper is the ultimate energy drink for use during weight training or increasing speed, whether you're running or cycling. It will help prevent dehydration and sustains energy, helping you to maintain your best performance for longer. Viper includes Branch Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs), which prevent the amino acid imbalances that could cause mental fatigue, leaving other sports drinks far behind. Its unique formulation delays fatigue and improves endurance, whilst retaining focus and motivation during each and every training session. As if that wasn't enough, the BCAAs inhibit muscle breakdown. After intense exercise, muscle glycogen is stored faster when taking Viper than drinks containing carbohydrates and electrolytes alone. As a result of all its great effects, this energy drink has become the drink of choice among knowledgeable athletes and coaches. Try it for yourself and feel the difference. Viper contains no stimulants and is allowed in all IOC tested events! It mixes instantly in water and is available in two great thirst-quenching flavours: orange or fruit punch.Recommend UsePre-workout boost: mix 1.5 scoops (75g) of Maximuscle Viper in 500ml (approx 1 pint) of water in a Maximuscle water bottle. Sip over 60 minutes and stop drinking all fluids 20 minutes before training. During training (Isotonic): Mix 1 scoop (approx 50g) in 500ml (approx 1 pint) of water in a Maximuscle water bottle. Sip during training, cycling, running, competing, etc... After training (Hypertonic): Mix 2 scoops (100g) in 500ml (approx 1 pint) of water in a Maximuscle water bottle. Drink within 15 - 20 minutes after training.Remember: It's vital to replace lost fluids, carbohydrates and salts within the golden half hour after training to promote maximum rehydration, glycogen storage and recovery. Super easy mixing, no blending, no mess, just mix, stir and drink. Why buy Viper?Increases speed Promote rehydration Avoid dehydration Replaces the electrolytes and salts lost through sweating Inhibits muscle breakdown Retain focus and motivation Maintain skill Accelerates muscle refuelling

Advantages: good value for money, in terms of price and effectiveness. not bad tasting Disadvantages: not great pre workout, as no real kick!! which is a bit of a let down.

Reason being I don't find it gives you a great pre-exercise kick, as some energy drinks do. And I dont really like to drink during my workouts as i find, especially if the intensity is high, I start to feel a bit sick. Although if your workouts are longer and more enduring then it's probably a must to drink this over the duration, so not to let your glycogen store dry up. As a post-exercise drink i think its brilliant, I tested it by doing one week using it and one week not using it. I found that while I was using it to replace lost electrolytes the next day I felt a lot less lathargic and aching, compared to when I weren't taking it. For a third week I took both a whey protein and viper mixed after training and found that I felt even better the next day.
The taste of this product is actually not too bad, better than some of the other supplements out there, it's a bit better than bearable put it that way. I find the taste is better than the orange viper! You can always add some sort of juice (in small amounts) if you find it that unbearable.
So overall I'd say this product is a must, especially as a post workout drink to replace what you have lost during exercise. Its price is good, how long a tub lasts depends on how you use it, i.e. on the directions it says to use different amounts for pre, post and during exercise. But either way it will still workout a fair bit cheaper than buying a similar drink ready made from your local shop, and will definately do a better job.
