Some people call me ignorant for using Maxtor, but I honestly only order Maxtor for my hard drives. Now the only downside to the Maxtor 500 GB is that it is an external drive that, if not careful, can overheat and cause connectivity problems, transfer speed issues, or just annoyance from when the usb gets knocked out. That being said, if you can get past the downside of have an external I would recommend this product to anyone not using a Mac. The only reason I do not recommend this to Mac owners is because Mac is the only type of computer that I myself will not touch. I am now on my 2nd ps3 40gb console in the past 2 years and have had alot of enjoyment from them, however after moderate use (3-4 times a week for no more than 4 hours at a time) around 6 months from purchase you begin to exprience problems with overheating even when the console is well ventilated. The problem begins with the consoles internal fan running faster and so creating alot more noise resulting in the user having to greatly adjust the volume in order to hear what ever they are playing/watching on the console and after a further 6-9 months the console begins to have problems with switching on and off until it eventually loses function altogether.
