Maybelline Cool Effects 'Cooling Cream Eyecolor' is an eyeshadow with a difference. There's no little pot... there's no applicator... just a dinky little squirty tube!
The tubes themselves are tiny - probably only 4cm long, and they have a pointy, black plastic screw-top lid to them. They're made of clear plastic, which is certainly handy as it means you can immediately see the colour of the product through the packaging - no having to find a tester to see the colour, or guessing from the little sticker on the bottom of a pot.Cool Effects eyeshadows come in a range of eight different colours.
Cold as Ice
Cool Blues
Lilac Freeze
Pretty Cool
Gives Me The Chills
Nougat
Cool Cat
Sugar Plum Ice These cover a range of shades from almost white, to pale blue, to pink, lilac and neutral shades. Each colour has a shimmery effect to it, and all of them are fairly pale in colour. The light, shimmery effect makes them perfect to wear during the day or for going out.
Applying the eyeshadow is a bit of an art in itself - you can soon get the hang of it, but at first it's difficult to judge the right quantity you'll need. As the product is in a squeezy tube you need to squirt a small amount of the product onto your finger (or an applicator if you really want to use one). Once you've got it on your finger (or applicator) it's just a case of sweeping your finger across your eyelid and gently blending it in to however you want it. An easy mistake to make is to squirt too much onto your finger then putting it onto your eyelid and having to spend the new few minutes trying to even out the splodge. From experience I've learnt it's better to start with a small amount and apply more as required. So - is it just a gimmick, or is eyeshadow in a tube really any good? For starters, this eyeshadow isn't just called 'Cool Effects' because of the shades it comes in, it really does have a cooling effect. As you smooth it over your eyelid you can't help but notice the cool refreshing sensation. This is nice at any time of day and any time of year, but is particularly nice in the summer when your eyes are feeling hot and tired. Despite being a cream it's not at all greasy - if you rub a tiny amount between your fingers it feels almost powdery. The cream is apparantly made up of 50% water and Maybelline claim that once applied the eyeshadow lasts for up to eight hours. I can certainly back up this claim, as applying it in the morning before work it's still noticeable at the end of the day. However, towards the end of your eight hours worth of wear, although it doesn't look a mess, on close inspection you can certainly tell that you either need to touch it up or wash it off. This product doesn't claim to be waterproof, and it can be easily removed with a flannel, however, it does have some staying power in wet situations. I regularly go swimming, but the eyeshadow is still noticeable after my swim (although perhaps not so noticeable as when first applied).
Maybelline offer a 'tip' on this product in that it can also be used to 'highlight cheeks or to create a shimmering effect on the lips'. They also recommend blending shades together to customise your colours (this does work!).
Priced at approximately £3.29 for a 7.5ml tube this product is certainly value for money. The tubes last an amazingly long time as a little really does go a long way. Maybelline Cool Effects eyecolor is available from most Boots stores and other similar shops that stock Maybelline products.
Advantages: nice look, not too expensive, small packaging is good Disadvantages: takes a while to apply to get a good look
...a website link on the maybelline website to buy the cool effect eye colour and noticed they were quite cheap in America and they had lots of shades I didn't buy any though because p&p is expensive from America. When I was in America last year I was in a shop and noticed the cool effect there it's different and I had to buy one there it cost about $2.90 and the shade I chose here was one I had seen on the website which I had wanted called 'Lilac Freeze'. ... ...enough for one, the tube is different here and you get 8g. The tube the time can stand up because the top is flat and this goes on just the same as the other but the packaging is good on both bottles. I really like this product it gives a nice shimmer to the eyes and it isn't too expensive. ...

...find them anywhere that sells Maybelline including Boots and Superdrug. They have a whole range of colours starting with the original ‘cool’ colours; mint green, ice blue, silver and now including some newer, warmer colours such as gold and bronze. I chose silver, which is especially good because it can be used in different amounts to create anything from a slight shimmer to a really dramatic ice-queen look. My main worry with eye shadows ... ...and even when I do manage it they are bound to be all creased up by the end of the evening! I know people also worry about applying things with their fingers. This however was so easy to apply, with just a finger, no mess and a really even finish. Just make sure you have clean fingers to begin with! Also, because it’s oil based it doesn’t crease at all. This eye shadow comes in a tiny transparent tube, with a small nozzle and a screw-on ...

Advantages: great look, lasts all day! Disadvantages: Isnt waterproof/touchproof
...what i was wearing. The Maybelline Cool effect eyeshadow was the first one that caught my eye and i ended up buying the Nougat 05 colour which is very very gold!
It comes in a small compact tube and contains 7.5 ml which is enough to last for absolutely ages. I have used it almost every day for nearly 3 months and i still have plenty left. This means i still have money for other things that i need! The packaging itself is small and sweet and can ... ...be taken almost anywhere with you.
When you first apply the cream it is very cooling and i found that it can tend to sting. The cool effect only lasts for a couple of minutes so this definitely isnt worth buying just for this one quality.
The eyeshadow is more like a cream but is a lot easier to apply. It gently wipes over the eyelid coating it in a shiny gold layer that lasts all day, as long as you arent planning on getting wet at any point throughout ...

Advantages: lasts well, easy to apply, looks good Disadvantages: won't stay all day
...Sheer Eye Colour – the Maybelline packaging is far superior, although admittedly this is reflected in the price.
On applying the make up to my eye lids, I did enjoy an initial ‘cooling’ sensation, however this soon passed and I certainly would not buy this eye colouring again merely for its cooling quality. The ‘cool effect’ label is simply a marketing strategy to make the product stand out from the competition and ... ...features to be found in this product.
I was very impressed by this make up in several different areas; it was easy to apply, lasted well and didn’t crease as is the case with so many other eye colours. Granted that it is quite expensive at nearly four pounds, but I felt that this was justified by its performance. Despite the small tube, you won’t need to replace this as soon as you might think because a little goes a long way. Therefore, ...

I love this creamy eye shadow.
You can buy it in sticks or in little dinky tubes (i use the tubes).
There is a range of colours that are all pretty pale but very shiny and glittery.
I use the gold one and I have got recently got a really nice purple-silvery colour.
It glides over your eye-lids like silk and cools them down as you apply it,its great in the summer.
The little tubes cost around £4 but they do seem to last ages as you dont need ...
