Maybe it's Maybelline!
Advantages: Long, separated and defined lashes. Disadvantages: They advertise it with a model wearing false eyelashes.

I have had quite a few mascaras, I tend to buy the brand names because I like to think that they will work properly and you see advertisements for them everywhere. The bristles on the brush of my previous mascara had started falling off, which wasn't very good and I hadn't had it for that long, but for this reason I thought that I'd better get a new one. I bought the Maybelline Define-A-Lash from Boots as it was on offer so I thought I was getting a pretty good deal. It was brand new in the shops and it appealed to me because of the things it said it would do, the fact that it was Maybelline, and it especially stood out because it is bright green! It was exactly what I was looking for and I thought that it was really unique because it has a built in "clump remover" which I'll tell you more about later.
The founder of the Maybelline brand was named T.L. Williams and he invented the first ever mascara in Chicago in 1913! Apparently his sister, Maybel had a boyfriend who was in love with another woman and she desperately wanted to win him back so T.L. Williams blended Vaseline and coal dust to create a lash darkener, though it was probably a whole lot different to what we call mascara nowadays. His plan worked and his sister married her boyfriend, and so T.L. Williams named the brand after his sister Maybel and used part of the word vaseline to create Maybelline! In 1967 he sold it and it was sold again until eventually it ended up in New York and was owned by (and still is owned by) L'Oréal. L'Oréal is the world’s largest cosmetics and beauty companies and the founder's daughter, Liliane Bettencourt, is now one of the richest people on the planet.
Define-A-Lash is advertised on the television, in magazines, on billboards and on the internet but I think that it is false advertising because it says that the model is wearing lash inserts (in miniscule writing). It shouldn't be allowed for companies to advertise mascara when the reason that the model has nice eyelashes is that she is wearing false ones!
The packaging for Define-A-Lash is fairly simple but it has extra cardboard and plastic, which isn't really needed. On the front of the packaging it says the name and brand name and has the colour of the mascara indicated on the bottom left-hand corner, in this case, black. You can see the actual mascara through the clear plastic, and next to that it tells you that the product will give you, "Sensually long lashes, perfect definition and zero clumps." On the back it tells you even more about it, and it reads, "Our advanced brush wiping system deposits the optimal amount of product on the brush, without excess. Ergonomic Shaped-to-the-Lash Brush with elastic bristles is shaped to the lash curve to better capture and evenly coat each and every lash from base to tip. Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers." Then below that there is an unending list of ingredients that I am not going to bother wasting my time typing out!
As I mentioned before, the colour of the mascara tube is bright green, and it is certainly eye-catching and instantly recognisable and I like it, I think it looks really unique. The tube is recyclable. It is simply a cylinder in shape, with white writing on and all you need to do is twist the top to take out the brush, and then you can use it.
The built in clump remover is basically something inside the mascara tube that compresses the brush to get rid of any clumps (there is a picture at the bottom to help you understand what it looks like). I have never seen any mascaras with a clump remover and I think that it is an excellent idea, because it is really simple but it works fantastically. Maybelline has said that if there are no clumps on the brush, there should be no clumps on the lashes and it is absolutely true. I have never had any clumps from Define-A-Lash which is great!
The ergonomic brush is designed for ease of use and it bends so that it can reach all of the eyelashes, which again is true. The bristles are very thin so that they separate the eyelashes and none of them have fell off like they did with my previous one! The mascara is really easy to apply and afterwards my eyelashes do not feel sticky or gloopy, instead they feel separated and long. Overall I think that the design of the Define-A-Lash mascara is different to what the other mascaras are like and unlike with other mascaras, they can prove their statements because of the brush and clump remover.
I love this mascara, it makes my eyelashes really long and it really does separate them really well, and I haven't had any problems with clumps at all. It gives really long lashes but don't expect to look like the woman in the advert - unless your wearing false eyelashes. It makes your eyelashes stand out and if you apply more than one coat they will look even fuller, but to get the desired look one coat is usually more than enough. It does not irritate your eyes in any way and it doesn't have a nasty smell, the quality of Define-A-Lash is excellent. It stays on all day long, and as you would expect at the end of the day your lashes look just as great as they did when you first put it on. This mascara is not waterproof so I wouldn't recommend it to people who cry a lot, however they do have a waterproof version! To remove it, all I do is use a baby wipe and it does the job perfectly but you may also use soap and water, or another type of make-up remover.
They make Define-A-Lash in three colours; Very Black, Soft Black, and Brownish Black. I opted fro one of the black versions - not too sure which one though! In Superdrug they are selling it for £7.49 and when I bought mine from Boots it was £5.49 but I'm not sure if this offer is still on.
I think that buying this mascara was money well spent, and I must say that all of the things that Maybelline have said that it does have turned out to be true. The results are amazing and I would definitely recommend it to people who want great lashes. Mascara is my favourite make-up and I couldn't have wanted anything more from it. Define-A-Lash is a mascara that says what it does on the packaging, and it was worth every penny.
Advantages: Doesn't irritate eyes, no clumps Disadvantages: Brush too flexible, doesn't lengthen lashes
...to get a tube of Maybelline Great Lash mascara in brown, unfortunately it was out of stock. I then noticed the huge display about their new Define-a-Lash mascara, and like the gullible idiot that I am I was convinced that I needed a tube, so I promptly bought one in brown. It cost me £7.49, full price, but much to my dismay I then saw it on offer a few days later.
What Maybelline Claim
Maybelline claim this new mascara will give you sexier, more ... ...really. You can't miss it. Maybelline don't seem to be a brand concerned with looking sophisticated. The greenness does make it easy to find in the depths of your makeup bag though. The tube is a standard cylinder shape and contains only 6.5ml of mascara, which is not a lot.
Maybelline claim there is a built in clump remover which you can feel when you try to pull the wand out of the tube, and it does its job quite well but there is still too much ...

'''MAYBELLINE DEFINE-A-LASH MASCARA'''
== Maybelline Jade Stretch & Define Mascara ==
Why?
=====
I need a new mascara. A friend recommended me the Maybelline mascara.
In the German one the mascara is called Strech & Define.
I have bought the mascara in the chemist's shop "Rossmann". It has cost me to 9.95 euros. A bottle has 6.5 ml contents.
This is quite a lot of money, but if the mascara feels well, I spend the money with pleasure.
What?
... ...shaped-to-the-lash brush and built-in clump-remover for clump-free length and perfect definition.

The test!
=====
There is the mascara in the colours Black, Brown and Blue. I have decided on black.
The slender green mascara is optically a real highlight and falls with it positively on in the makeup bag. The bottle lies well and useful in the hand.
The little brush ...

...mascara. I had an older Maybelline mascara but I just couldn’t stand it much longer it was clumpy and was making my eyelashes thick and also when I touched them it was big clumps on my eyelashes and I really didn’t like this, so I decided to throw it out and find a replacement quick. I had seen at Boots another Maybelline mascara which looked good but it had competition another Max Factor one which was on offer and also looked good.

So at Boots I noticed the product at first because of its bright green packaging but at first I thought the actual mascara was bright green too and it put me off so I walked away. However after much thought, I decided in my lunch break ...

...I decided to try out Maybelline Define A Lash Mascara, I had always been a devotee of Lash Discovery with it's natural look thanks to the mini brush but with it out of production and Lash Stylist proving to be a disaster my search took me on to Define A lash.

Overall I can certainly recommend the product, it's easy to apply and looks great, giving a nice amount of length while still remaining natural looking.

Maybeline Define-a-Lash Mascara
After my recent disaster with a Boots No7 mascara I decided to revert back to the previously good mascara I had used and curse myself for not continuing to buy it and instead wasting £6 on a No7 one that is now in the bin when with that money I could have bought this one.
I am currently on my second one of these Maybeline Define-a-Lash mascaras and first time round I found it very good which is why I have purchased ... ...very good also.
I usually stick with buying Brown/Black mascara and this time is no different. I find that if you use a brown/black one instead of just plain black the lashes tend to look a lot more realistic and natural.
I paid just around the seven-pound mark for this Mascara from Tesco and previously bought in when it was on special offer for around £5 in Boots. I think both of the prices I have paid are very reasonable compared to some mascara's ...

Advantages: Clump free lashes that don't smear. Disadvantages: Doesn't seem to give any volume to my lashes!
I stumbled across this mascara by chance, I was frantically searching for a volume mascara in brown in Boots. My usual Bourjois range let me down, ALL of their mascara's were in black, along with every other brand it seemed, and the first brown mascara I came across was this one, Maybelline's Define-A-Lash. I remember when this mascara came out a few years ago, with one of their fierce advertising campaigns they seem to do when they release a new macara (which seems to be every few months!), each one always promising to give you the most gorgeous lashes, ever. You may remember the campaign behind the mascara which came in a bright green tube, this is the same except this one is the Define-A-Lash VOLUME mascara, and comes in a pink tube rather than green.
One of the main reasons I bought this was because it had £3 off, making it only £5 ...
Advantages: Pretty Pink Tube Disadvantages: See Review
I have previously written a review on Maybelline's Lash Stylist mascara that I loved; this mascara unfortunately was running out and needed a replacement. I have been using Maybelline's Define-A-Lashmascara now for a few weeks, and must say I miss my old one, quite badly.
Price and Packaging
--------------------------
The Define-A-Lashmascara can be purchased from most makeup counters for approx £7.99, I actually picked mine up in Tesco for only £6.99, so bit of a bargin. (So I thought!)
The tube is long, straight and a very nice vibrant pink colour, a bonus for me being a lover of all things pink. I've always brought waterproof mascara as I find it useful that it will never run. The tip of the mascara tube has a small circular plastic ring which is colour coded to indicate if it's waterproof or not, waterproof being blue ...
Advantages: Erm.... Disadvantages: Well it's totally rubbish? lol
with a blue plastic jewel like thing on one end of the tube kind of thing. In silver writing on one side I'm told it is MaybellineDefine-A-Lash waterproof mascara and that's it on the information stakes.
The Mascara....
Well I was really excited at the thought of using this cos if the truth be known I don't think I've ever splashed out £7.99 on a mascara before and my expectations were really high! However this really is... sh... sorry rubbish!
As you pull the' wand' out of the tube the brush situated at the bottom wobbles all over the place and it's very difficult to control. It's made of fibres which feel rubbery to the touch, the smell is horrid (really cheap) and the brush is coated well with black mascara (in my case).
Pulling the brush out of the tube or shoving it back in is flipping hard cos it's so flexible.
So you can ...
