There is one product us pale skinned girls shouldn't really live without in the cosmetics stakes and that's a damn good blusher in my opinion. Me, I'm really, really pale skinned with jet black long hair that I straighten. At 34 I'm not trying to be a goth! I find it really difficult to get colour into my face without looking like Coco the clown. Fake tan (I've tried lots over the past few years) really doesn't suit me and bronzers look equally fake on me. Just the other night I went to a bar with friends. I had used blusher on my cheeks but when I was in the toilet mirrors I was horrified at my reflection! I looked like a ghost and my friend looked pretty similar being a pale skinned gal like me self. I put it down to the freezing cold bar cos all the girls I looked at looked like we did.... washed out and pasty looking. However there was this really pretty young lady at a mirror painting her face with a really huge blusher brush all over her face. Noticing she was a chatty, friendly gal like we are I asked her if she'd mind doing me and she went wild with this brush for what seemed like an age! I looked in the mirror and yes I had some colour but really I looked like a kid had got hold of a paint brush and made me look like Aunt Sally and that's when I realised me and bronzer have had it for good now. My neck looked a different colour as did my chest, shoulders and arms and I can't get it right even if I try really hard.
My mate said to the girl I'm fine and she stood weighing me up half drunk and before we knew it she had been attacked by the brush too and looked rather glum about it all. Odd experience! Funny thing is we ended up on photographs that night and the bronzer looked great but in reality we looked odd as hell. Laugh? I ain't laughed so much in ages and decided no more talking to strangers!....
So the one thing the above experience taught me was that the blusher I was using wasn't long lasting enough and simply wasn't working or me anymore. I own loads but all of them were powder formulations and not sticking and when I party I need at least 8 hours wear after application. In my handbag I take out enough stuff as it is and I don't want to add to that a blusher as well. I want to apply blusher or whatever and forget about it and not have to reapply and that in bad lights in some dodgy places I frequent!
So off I went to Boots to talk to my usual advisor. She loves me cos she knows she's about to spend my pennies for me. I told her my problem and asked her advice. Now I had a £2.00 coupon to redeem against Maybelline or Bourjois and so I honestly told her that I'd rather buy from one of them brands if at all possible so off we went looking. Now although I'm a Beauty Therapist by trade I never tell people in the know that and I like their suggestions and like I say I know this lady very well. She agreed with me no to bronzer of any kind cos although we are told all skin tones suits brown that isn't a hard and fast rule and it's a no no for me as it's too harsh even to go for dark colours and try go easy but you get harsh lines so it's a minefield for us lot eh?! My skin is so light bare in mind that even a translucent foundation in some brands is far too dark for me! I hate it!
So in the end my advisor suggests peach colours (a colour I hadn't actually tried before) and in this mousse formula because although it's light in colour you can keep applying it and layering it till you get the desired effect. Wary I really was!
The Packaging....
7ml round, glass pot with a plastic coloured lid. The colour of the lid corresponds to the colour in the pot so mine is like a peachy, pink colour and on it I'm told it's Maybelline, Dream Mousse Blush and then my chosen colour is stated which is 07 Peach Satin. On the bottom of the pot there is white label and on that I'm once again I'm told it's Maybelline Mousse Blush, there is a bar-code, size is stated (as I've listed already), the recycle symbol is on there, and finally contact details for Maybelline are given. It's a nice functional pot and you can see at a glance what it is which is great if you have lots of make up products like I do. I like the fact that Maybelline's got a colour coded lid (if you own more than one of these that's particularly handy) and I like being able to see that it really is a mousse through it's glass bottomed pot and how much I have used and got left and stuff..
Using It....
Exceptionally easy to use! I mean no wonder it's called 'Dream'! I apply it over my foundation and/or over pressed/loose powder and it does this with ease. Of course you can apply it over moisturiser.... whatever it's up to you. So you unscrew the lid and your met with an almost full pot of colour. It has a very faint cosmeticy smell to it but it isn't offensive in any way and as I say it's really light and once on you can't smell it at all.
So the product is a mousse. According to Maybelline it's 'air whipped' and it appears that way. If you look through the pot there is no doubt it's a mousse as you can see little air bubbles in the mousse so it's looks light.
Now of course you can use your fingers to apply it or a sponge applicator or something. Now I tried to use it with sponge applicator and although I felt I could create a sharper look with that I felt I lost alot of product within the sponge which seemed to pinch it so personally my preferred method is with my fingers and have a tissue on hand to simply wipe excess off fingers afterwards.
Now I use a very small amount. I take none of the product as such out of the pot but I gently wipe a couple of fingertips over the surface of the mousse. It comes off easily, feels cold, moist and soft. I then apply it to the apples of my cheeks and up towards my temples and then I apply more if I want more colour.
Wow though! It feels weightless, soft as silk and it absorbs so quickly it's unreal. You sweep where you want it and it's gone in a second! Although it's gone into the skin you can still rub mistakes (if you create any) away. You can still get the colour in the skin to spread, it's so easy to use... this it really is that good
My colour (Peach Satin) can go from being a subtle hint of colour wash to being very defining indeed. If I want real cheekbones with this (I don't possess any so I have to cheat lol) I can cheat with it. I put three dabs where my cheekbones should be and create a gentle line by joining the said dots. I can use highlighter with it and if I get my colour a bit too dark (again it's never happened to me) I can use pressed loose powder over the top which I do anyway to 'set' my face and it doesn't impair the colour but can be used to soften it slightly.
This not only provides colour to my face but also radiance. My colour contains a really small amount of glitter particles that are so tiny and they reflect light really perking up my overall appearance. You wouldn't know the radiance was caused by glitter it looks natural making this a perfect blusher for women of any age.
When it's on the skin you can't feel it at all. It creates a smooth look on the skin and doesn't create a shimmer or anything that looks fake or hard. It gently hydrates and moisturises and up near my eye skin I've noticed I'm getting a few fine lines there and I've noticed any type of powder is getting prone to sitting there in the creases and making them more apparent. Well you don't get that with this as it's gently rubbed in and feels slightly moisturising and kind. It doesn't agitate my skin, doesn't make me oily or spotty and it stays put perfectly for about the 8 hours with no transfer and it's even simple to remove.
In Conclusion....
Perfection. Really, really good and I'm ever so impressed with it. Simple to use and get right. Long lasting in the tub and on the face and great for sensitive and mature skins. I can't see why anyone wouldn't like this one. On every level it's just great. I like the way it doesn't show up my open pores which I'm a bit paranoid of and my face feels really smooth with it on.
I've never been a fan of Maybelline cosmetics but this one product has changed the way I now feel about the range. This is a heavy duty, heavyweight of a blusher and looks and feels superb! Finally I don't have to look like a member of the Adams family and I can put i on,, go out looking as good as possible and stay that way fabby for a very long time! For a blusher that's been on the market for such a long time and there are now so many other formulations available on the market for me, this truly is a bright shining star and while I'm still getting the £2.00 vouchers from the range (in Boots) I shall be trying another couple of colours out too!
About £5.80 a pot in Boots... but as I say at the moment vouchers are being given out to give you £2.00 off the range (and Bourjois) when you spend £5.00 in store.

Advantages: Great Product from a trusted brand. Disadvantages: The glitter might be too much for some.
...day. As promised by Maybelline the product was as light as air and amazingly soft. I found one swipe of this product with my index finger was more than enough to colour both my cheeks, so a little of this mousse goes a very long way as it's quite highly pigmented with a little added sparkle. Because every girl needs a little sparkle, right?
Although I can't find this product on Boots.com to be fully sure of the price it wasn't more than £6 at my ...

Advantages: Nice rosy cheeks blends well Disadvantages: none
After using the maybelline mousse foundation and loving it I decided I would give the blusher mousse a try. It comes in a glass pot (or at least it loos and feels like glass) and you can see the colour of the blusher inside as well as how much is left which I like. The lid is plastic and screws on this is very easy to get on and off. This matches the colour of the blusher although it only varies very slightly so be careful as you can end up picking ... ...On opening the product I found that it has a very slight hint of rose, which is nice as most blushers smell very powdery. It also has a nice swirl to it inside and I always find I dont want to use it as it looks so pretty in its pot. I use my finger with this product and just apply a very small amount of the blusher mousse onto my finger as a little goes a long way. It has a very light and airy feel to it which is nice as you dont want to be putting ...
