I was looking for some new eye colour which was different to the normal browns that I wear and I was recommended this by a woman in Boots. I have now been using it for about a year and thought I would share my view.

It is part of the Dream Mousse range that Maybelline do which includes foundation and blusher. It has been air whipped for a creamy, light texture. It claims to ‘combine the lasting wear of a powder with the smooth feel of a cream’.

It currently costs about £5.86 for 5g in Boots and comes in 7 different colours. I really like the Eden Green one at the moment. It comes in a small glass jar with a screw lid.

I have always been a bit dubious of cream eye shadows and in the past I have found that they print on the upper eye, just below the eyebrow. But it said that it turns into a powder when applied so I thought I would give it a go.

When opening I found that it really was like a mousse; it had the air bubbles to prove it. I wasn’t sure how to apply it at first. I tried a sponge applicator but found that it absorbed the mousse and didn’t leave much to go onto the eyelid. I now use my finger which I have found it the best way, but does get a bit messy.

It blends really well and I can get even coverage, even with my finger. I sometimes find that it does get on my cheek but this is easily removed with a cotton bud.

I wear my makeup for about 9 hours a day without reapplication and was really pleased that this lasts the whole duration. Also, it doesn’t print. It dries when it is applied and feels so lightweight that you don’t even know you are wearing it.

The only bad thing that I have found is that it does tend to dry out. I have had this pot for about 6 months now and it is not as airy as it was when I bought it, even though I always leave the lid on. It can also go a bit clumpy and then it doesn’t go on the eyelid as easily, which is a bit annoying.

Overall this product is highly recommended. It lived up to the expectations and can be applied quite easily, although if anyone can find another method of application other than the finger, that would be helpful.
