Today I went into Boots to do some shopping and noticed said lipstick with an offer of 100 extra advantage points if I bought it. I thought that this must be fate so I treated myself.
I bought the Sand Shimmer shade, as I’m not keen ... ...
I have contacted Maybelline via their website to ask for their comments on the matter and I have written to Boots to ask for a refund. Well, under the Sale of Goods Act it should be ‘fit for the purpose for which it was bought’ and it’s not, so I want my money back. (Stamps foot at this point in petulant fashion)
Oh well, next time I see an advert like that I’ll remember that the photograph has been airbrushed and touched up ... more

I saw an advert on my local bus shelter yesterday showing a lady wearing the new Maybelline Watershine Diamonds Lipstick and she looked terrific. At the time I thought I might look out for the lipstick to try it but wasn’t desperate to buy some.
Today I went into Boots to do some shopping and noticed said lipstick with an offer of 100 extra advantage points if I bought it. I thought that this must be fate so I treated myself.
I bought the Sand Shimmer shade, as I’m not keen on bright lipsticks, preferring a beige coloured one. I paid £5.75 for the lipstick, which looks very classy in a pink and silver square sided tube.
When I got it home I tried it out and was very disappointed to say the least. It was supposed to make my lips look wet and shiny – it didn’t. It was supposed to contain lots of little particles, which reflect the light to make my lips shimmer – again no sign of these either!
To be fair the lipstick does give a nice smooth finish and my lips felt nice and moist (isn’t that a lovely word?), but as it doesn’t do what it is advertised to do I feel cheated.

Want to have sexy looking lips, dripping with the look of gloss (well, maybe not 'dripping') alluring, wet looking lips, just like Kathy Kirby? No, I'm not showing my age, but I do remember her 'shouting from a highest hill' back in the 60's when I was just a wee thing. She stood there, belting out this song with the most amazing wet looking lips....
Well, now you can - ish - with Maybelline's Watershine lipsticks, available in a range of over 10 ... ...and was thrilled when applying it to find that my lips took on the image of a temptress. (Boy, I know how to exaggerate). Easy to apply, it had the finish of a high shine lip gloss but with the more strong colour of a lipstick.
I have used this lipstick most days now and it is definitely my favourite as it keeps the lips moist as well as shiny. My one gripe is that as the lipstick gets older it loses some of it's 'watershine' and becomes more like ...

Advantages: Shiny, a unique look, sparkle, a nice look for going out. Disadvantages: Expensive.
...I found out from the Maybelline website that the diamond effect comes from tiny leaves of silver in the lipstick which reflect light. I must say though, looking at the advert, it does not make your lips as shiny as the models are. She is definitely wearing gloss on top of the lipstick. I have read the other reviews of this product and don’t understand why they are mostly negative. I am impressed by this product and although it is more than I usually ... ...category for Maybelline Watershine lipstick. Please note that I have reviewed Maybelline Watershine Diamonds lipstick, which I assume is the same thing but with the bits of silver to create sparkle.
P.P.S Sorry about the rude title but I had to get reads for an opinion about lipsticks somehow! ...

...I bought my very first Maybelline Water Shine Lipstick (Cocoa Shake 02).
I was on holiday in Southern France, the weather was hot, the prices were high and as a result I thought I'd try something new. I had a nice tan, and thought a browny/pink colour would work well. Due to the fact that I was in the South of France, the prices were hugely higher than my local Boots, but nevermind! Anyway, I bought it. I chose the brand before the colour! Seeing ... ...coming home with awful shades that I never wore and couldn't give away) I decided to go with a brand that advertised a lot, and that seemed quite reputable. Maybelline.
Next I walked around the display looking for somehting familar, I didn't want an ordinary one, and when I saw the little picture announcing Water Shine, I knew I'd found the right one for me. Seeing as I loved lipgloss, a lipstick that claimed to have gloss with it sounded perfect! ...

Advantages: lovely colour, smooth, doesn't dry or flake Disadvantages: umm - it doesn't do what it was actually advertised to - NO WATERSHINE
...I thought I’d give the Maybelline watershine lipstick a go, hoping it could solve the problem. It cost about five pounds in Boots (but I got my Dad to pay, and now he thinks hayfever tablets, which I was also buying, cost over a tenner!). This, I felt, was very reasonable for a lipstick, and at the same time of course, I was getting Boots points. The choice of colours was good too – I found a few I liked pretty quickly. I prefer to wear ... ...I am sure that Maybelline could be sued for false advertising here – as I think they must have plastered their models with gloss on top of the lipstick to create such an effect.
In its favour, it does seem to have a moisturising quality, and doesn’t flake or go dry on my lips. This may be due to the “lip friendly vitamin E” that it contains. However, its ‘lastability’ is not too good – I wore it out yesterday, ...

Water shine diamond lipstick is designed to give a wet look base colour with an added subtle sheen of fine glitter. There is a fairly wide range of different shades available, however the range is limited to pinky and orange colours, with several shades looking virtually identical on; there are only two darker shade designed for women of ethnic origin.
On application the colour ... ...to blinding in certain lights, so if you choose to get this lipstick, look at yourself in as many lights as possible before venturing outside. The wet look or ‘watershine’ element of the lipstick only seems to be visible on me when I lick my lips, strange coincidence...
Durability
What durability? This lipstick seems to be worn off by air particles; the only way I have managed to keep it on for more than half an hour is by using lipstick lock, ...

I am a sucker for cosemtics, like I have said in past reviews. I generally stick to lipsticks and Maybelline are my staple products; watershine diamonds and moisture whip. I was taking my daily trip to Boots (yes, I visit Boots pretty much daily) and I saw an advert for MaybellineWatershine Diamonds Liquid at £5.99... being the fickle person I get all excited and go straight to the display. There is a wide variety of summery colours ranging from pale pink to orange. A lot of them look pretty putrid in the tube but on closer inspection and some testage you see they are all pretty gorgeous and wearable colours.
The tubes are nothing special, they are clear and have a silver lid the same size as the tube. The gloss has tiny silver sparkles in, these aren't too glittery, they just gice serious shine. The gloss looks very glittery ...
Advantages: Quick & easy to use, comes in 6 different shades so it should suit everyone & is cheap!!! Disadvantages: If the lipstick is in same colour as maybelline lip liner - the contour around your lips will fade
I prefer MaybellineWatershine Diamonds Lipstick in Sand and Beige tones as well as various shades of red from other brands. To make my lips more plum or to make them visually smaller I use different lip liner and lipstick colours. Whatever I do - my make-up is not complete without the lip liner as it makes my lips look rich and well groomed - absolutely irresistable!!
So...It has been a long time I have been using lip-liner along with lipstick to dress up my lips. I am not fan of luxorious cosmetics but I like anything and everything that is of a good quality, that suits me and that is affordable :)

This is where MaybellineWatershine Diamonds lipstick comes in. For it is a lipstick. But it looks more like a lipgloss when you put it on.
It is a step on from the standard Watershinelipstick. That is to say, it has the same shiny yet intense colour but with added "oomph". This is because the colour is threaded through with silver "diamond effect particles" - these reflect the light and therefore do not only make the lips actually sparkle like diamonds, they also give the effect of making the lips look fuller. This is also helped by special oils included in the lipstick, which contribute to the sexy "wet look" that the lipstick produces.
