Please do yourself a favour and don't waste your money on these machines. They breakdown often, and because they are made by Asko, getting the parts takes weeks. I bought this washing machine and the matching dryer in August 2002. They worked perfectly for the first year. Since then I have lost count of the number of times they have broken down. Currently the washing machine won't spin at full speed, which incidentally is the only thing it does well when its working. Maytag have been out 3 times over the last 4 weeks and can't fix it. They've replaced the control panel, an internal module, and the belt all to no avail.
Maytag Service department are a waste of time. Whenever you call to make a service appointment, they say that someone will call you back. They never do. I now have the engineer's mobile number on speed-dial so I call him directly. Whenever your appliance needs attention, it takes 2 service appointments. The first when he comes out to make his diagnosis, then you wait weeks for the parts, and after many more phone calls you get him a second time to fit them. All this means more time off work, trips to the launderette, and piles of dirty washing.
Last summer my tumble dryer broke down and it took 16 weeks to get the necessary parts!! I only bought them because I wanted them to go in a stainless steel kitchen. I wish I had gotten the plain but functional Miele's.
I first saw these appliances in Harrod's, and thought I would save money by shopping online. I paid £1272 to Home Creations (based in Bournemouth), when I live in London. It saved me a few hundred pounds, but when I was having problems with Maytag the retailer didn't want to know. Subsequently I didn't have anywhere to go to complain.

...year ago because of the Maytag reputation and the economy of the machine (which is one of the most economical on the market).
The Maytag brand is very big in the USA where I would say they are the equivalent of the Meile brand over there.
As expected, the machine has lived up to its billing as a king among washing machines- its bomb proof- very heavy and welll designed as its fully clad in stainless steal. The wash results are superb and does wonders ...
