I bought this machine a year ago because of the Maytag reputation and the economy of the machine (which is one of the most economical on the market).
The Maytag brand is very big in the USA where I would say they are the equivalent of the Meile brand over there.
As expected, the machine has lived up to its billing as a king among washing machines- its bomb proof- very heavy and welll designed as its fully clad in stainless steal. The wash results are superb and does wonders on the 30 degree cycle too.
Its fully controllable- you can use the factory presets or create your own wash cycles. I would suggest the eco mode every time.
Downsides are that it is expensive- over £1000 but you get what you pay for- you get the impression that the machine will go on for years! ...

Advantages: Looks cool, works great, cleans brilliantly Disadvantages: Cost, but you get what you pay for.
I have had this machine now for 3 months now and can honestly say, no regrets.
The machine is beautiful, with the state of the art digital selection system that is not only very easy to use but allows for great flexibility. The 2000 rpm really dries clothes that shits dry off the rack in my London flat within half hour. On average, I only use 1600 to 1800 rmp for drying.
Also, the delay wash feature - you actually select the time for the machine to start and it shows when the washing cycle will end. So you can time it to come on so that your clothes will be washed by the time you get up.
Wasing options, well there can sometimes be too many of these - and the Maytag is no different. I like the hand wash cycle - its just so gentle and you can control the temperatures too.
Best of all, its SILENT - even at 2000 rpm spin dry ...
Advantages: Clean clothes when it works! Disadvantages: Frequent breakdowns, shoddy unreliable service department
I bought this washing machine and the matching dryer in August 2002. They worked perfectly for the first year. Since then I have lost count of the number of times they have broken down. Currently the washing machine won't spin at full speed, which incidentally is the only thing it does well when its working. Maytag have been out 3 times over the last 4 weeks and can't fix it. They've replaced the control panel, an internal module, and the belt all to no avail.
Maytag Service department are a waste of time. Whenever you call to make a service appointment, they say that someone will call you back. They never do. I now have the engineer's mobile number on speed-dial so I call him directly. Whenever your appliance needs attention, it takes 2 service appointments. The first when he comes out to make his diagnosis, then you wait weeks ...
