I trade my fiat punto 16v (80hp) from the year 2000 for this Mazda demio 1.3 from the year 1999 in a dealer and he also gave me 2 years of waranty, the car had 74000 kms, it was like new, i made this trade because i was tired of my faulty punto and wanted a reliable brand and car, my first toughts were, this car is kind of ugly, and certanly will be very slow, but i will make the trade to pass him to my wife that was taking her license, but i was worng, the car is not so slow (ok compared to similar engines), i dont notice to much diference compared to the punto, and other cars that i have, also the demio has 2 airbags, sun ruf, abs, 4 electric widows, alloy wheels, etc... ok the interior is ugly and the plastics look cheap, the seats are not very confortable until you get used to them, the car at first looks not very stable, but it is believe me, a make hard turns and it is very responsive, it drives like a charm, i would make this trade again, and chose this car compared to similiar cars. The looks are something personal, so i cant say that is good looking or bas looking.
Everyone is saying that the car is slow... is slow compared to what? this is not a racing car, but compared to other cars with similar hp it is very good, in highways it gets to 100mph very easily straith, and i top a lots of times with the pointer at the end of the counter were there is no more numbers... i would recomend this car, and would buy again. i will pass it to my wife i buy another mazda for me.

Edit: as requested i will add more details to the review:

- The handling of the car is very good, the sterring wheel is not to light, or too heavy, its perfect.
- I never need to fix or replace anything unless 2 or 3 bulb lights.
- About consumption, if driving normal it can get 7l/km, but if you put your pedal down it can reach 10l/km, at slower drive it do less than 7l/km.
- The car is very roomy, the back seats move so you can get more space to rear passengers and less space in the trunk, or more space in the trunk and less to rear passenger seats, this is very pratical, and i never had in any of my previous cars.
-At first i was not used to the seats and i found them not very confortable, but now i dont think that way, my previous car the seats were very soft, and in this car you get a better posture so you have less problems in a long drive.
- My version of the engine is the 1.3 72hp, i like this engine is quick, and it has a good and precise gear box.
- Good suspensions, not too hard and not too soft, the car is not very high so you can make turns fast without the danger losing control
- mine came very well equiped for his year, 2 airbags, electric panoramic sun roof, 14" alloys, ABS, 4 electric windows, assisted sterring wheel.. etc...
- one more thing this car brakes very very well, i had cars with ABS but this one stops imediatly.
- i usally drive fast and the engine never says no, or problems came. Before i had an ford fiesta 1.1 '91, opel vectra 1.6 '97, seat ibiza 1.3 '94, daewoo lanos 1.3 '97, ford fiesta 1.8D '96, fiat punto 1.2 16v '00, and now the Demio that i consider one of the best cars i've owned.

- the only thing i didn't like were the cheap plastic interiors... but i think is only looks, because the car doesnt make interior noises or skeeks.
