What I had experienced is that what ever may it be or it may seem to you I don’t think there is much use of the software for a standalone PC user at home. He/she might always use some small scale blocking and anti spam filter.
The software uses very high system resources and is a bit more costly as compared to its features. The software was designed keeping the normal users in mind so it did not appeal much to my office users.
Advantages: Internet Site advisor Disadvantages: Virus scanner is slow
I have always used mcafee for virus scan/internet security, so naturally i upgraded to 2007 when my old suite was out of date. I have never had any problems with mcafee software up until now. It is a very thorough programme, entailing quickclean, virus check, adware/spyware detector, firewall, site advisor, data backup and spam killer. The best features of this programme are the site advisor and data backup. When you open internet explorer and search ... ...are secure before opening them, also if they are very 'spammy.' A very handy feature. Data backup is great, you can archive all your important files onto external hard disk/dvd etc. My one gripe about this software is that it seems to take up alot of the systems resources, thus slowing down my laptop quite alot. Advantages: Comprehensive, Easy to use Disadvantages: Slow Virus Scanner
...in my case I had McAfee Security centre and got attacked simultaneously at the same time but it blocked the virus and msn got shut down, my system is unaffected by it whereas my friends internet is continuously downloading more malware and redirecting internet explorer, had some problems with a wireless hp printer / scanner when upgrading from 2006 to 2007 antivirus but when I upgraded the computer to vista the problem disappeared (don't think McAfee ... ...and it broke my computer. McAfee can be quite memory intensive though like most antivirus programs so make sure you have enough RAM as I had insufficient RAM when I had McAfee and Vista and it took like half an hour to load but that was mainly due to Vista as it used all my RAM. ...
